Tim Lincecum. Now before you say anything, I know he's 6-11 with a 4.18 ERA & seems to have left his back to back Cy Young years well beyond the rear view mirror BUT...........This year he's had one of the lowest run supports in baseball (3,3 runs per start). In 5 of his 11 loses he lost by scores of 2-1, 2-1, 3-0, 3-0, & 2-1 In June & July he pitched 10 games & went 2-6 with 2 NDs & an era of 3.86 but the Giants in those 10 games only scored 13 runs. And in his last 3 games 22 innings only 3 earn runs with 23 Ks. Now I don't know what kind of run support he'll get with the Yankees but.....It's something to consider.
I've always liked Lincecum, can't remember who the MLB "personality" was that brought up the idea of the Yankees picking him up was but I've heard the idea. I really think though that the Giants will try to keep him, the '13 season is gone for the Giants but they can still run out a pitching cadre next season.
He's better than Hughes, and despite the era has way less hits than IP, and tons of K's, he's a good pitcher, lots of teams will be in on Tim. The problem I have is he's as west coast as they get, I don't see him as fit in NY, also with those crazy mechanics I think he breaks down bad soon. I won't have a problem if NY goes after him, but would not hang hopes on him, they need 2 starters this off season and one better be a workhorse, front line starter, like Kuroda.
I think the question is.....how much? I mean he made 22M this past season. Now he's certainly not worth that money now. Not after the past 2 seasons that he's had. So what will it cost 15M?
It is a pitchers friendly park but....He's given up 3 runs or less in 7 of his 11 ROAD starts. And 2 runs or less in 6 of his 11 ROAD starts.
