Already did. But you tried derailing the thread like you did on the Lillard thread.

Usually strawman and hyperbole does that.

As near as I can see

NBA players should go to college:

    1) Because they'll be more responsible
    2) I wasn't responsible when I was 18
    3) Roy went to college, so did Kareem!
    4) After all, look at the drinking age - it's 21

That's no strawman, you actually made that argument.

There was also the classic "you're wrong" post. Not sure how that relates to NBA players going to college or not.

Along with the "statistical" question about an 18 year old having the same statistical chance to be responsible than a 22 year old who graduated college post.

I liked the one where you said "I don't need scholastic research." That was a real convincing one.

The "I don't know what a strawman is but I'm accusing you of using one" routine is getting old though.

All hail Denny, the King of straw man and hyperbole!

He will be giving courses on how to win a debate with this technique!

I don't think you know what hyperbole means, either.

The point is to get you to do something that's not intellectually lazy. Everyone who reads your posts will benefit. Like not scratching their heads wondering what hyperbole you're talking about.

In other words, look it up, read what it means, and try to retain what the words say.

And provide an example of what you find in my rhetoric that is hyperbole.

I think I simply paraphrased what you wrote in your posts. The meaning wasn't lost though.

    You're a funny guy.

Hopefully he's reading the WWW page about hyperbole with the pictures.

Disgusting post. Coming out as a homosexual isn't something to use as a punchline.

Kemp was doing lines in the Blazer locker room before games. I think I saw him outside of SafeCo Field last night trying to sell a Griffey Bobblehead.

Michael Beasley dominated as a freshman at Kansas State. He's now trying to raise bail and fight felony drug charges.

Hes actually already out on bail and would those be felony drug charges in any other state? IIRC it was a reasonable amount of weed. Hes a moron, but that doesn't mean he would have been better off staying at K-State. He may have matured some but on the court he was head and shoulders above the competition. Like I said, you've got to look at guys on a case by case basis and make a judgement call. Not sure how much NBA teams knew about Beasley's background, but I reckon they all knew Derrick Rose (another one-and-done guy from the same year, battling with Beasley for the #1 overall pick) had a better head on his shoulders.

Besides, there's at least as many hyped up 4 year college guys who are "NBA ready" who get to the league and do nothing. Is that any worse than Beasley who has a marginal career (though I don't see him out of the NBA any time soon) but off court issues? Ideally you want a good player with a good attitude and no trouble, but I'll take the good player who gets caught with weed over the golden boy 4 year guy who gets smoked every time he gets on the floor.

You've got Beasley and Demarcus Cousins and you've got Derrick Rose, Anthony Davis, etc. You can't paint a broad brush over the draft and say seasoned college guys are the way to go 100% of the time or one and done guys are the way to go 100% of the time.

After being drafted, Rose "fell asleep with a knife he was using to cut an apple" and cut himself pretty good. If you believe the story.

    http://blogs.suntimes.com/sportsprose/2008/12/derrick_rose_injures_self_on_h.html

Rumor was it was gang related, like a ritual or something.

I do think the organization rallied around Rose and they're giving him great guidance and he's listening.

I'm pretty sure his agent, Arm Tellem, is not a crook and steered him to a financial manager who won't let him blow through all his money.

The drinking age itself is not a blue law. Banning the sale of alcohol on Sunday would be the correct example. A "blue law" is a law designed to ban the sale of certain things on Sunday for religious standards. (These laws are unconstitutional IMHO)

FOX "news" level of reporting there Denny. :press: It's the equivalent of the "some people are saying" brand of news.

"some people are saying Derrick was lying and that he was really in a gang fight!"

    :smiley-whatever:
