I've been around forever, but rarely post (I've followed the herd since the late nineties for every big forum shift...which makes me suddenly wonder where Hap and Howie went). I'm always reading though. Last five years: Fractured my skull (playing bball) Finished my MS in Zoology (seed dispersal by ants in Australia) Got a grant to work in New Zealand for a while Got married Baby daughter 2 months later Started my own design studio Ruptured my achilles playing ball Baby son born Moved the family cross-country to Portland (I've been in NC since 2006) last October Wife gave it a shot, but couldn't do the Oregon gloom Moved back cross-country to sunny NC this spring Will be back to watching Blazer games at 10:30 at night (sigh) busy 5 years when I see the highlights
Thanks for replying. I'm finding the time zone issues annoying as it is with "just" 8 hours difference. I agree that it's a real eye-opener.
Shit..... I guess it's not surprising given my age...... But I changed jobs (one that pays more for less hours, and is enjoyable). We had our second child. We've moved 4-5 times during the 5 years, though now we've been in our dream home for a half-year, so I can't see us moving for at least 10-15 years.
Lewis Black on going to New Zealand: "If you're in a plane for 16 hours, when you land, the people there should have the common courtesy to speak another language. I didn't fly all this way to hear English AGAIN. Speak gibberish. Speak Pig Latin, you fucks."
