I agree with you. The line-up is really wing heavy and we are a bit light on the front line. I just don't see Olshey is satisfied with this discrepancy.

We need another big. Freeland is unreliable at best, and I don't see Claver as a four. Obviously the majority of the minutes will go to LMA, Lopez, and Robinson, with Leonard mopping up, but I think we need one more vet who can be plugged in the lineup in a pinch.

I 100% agree. I wish we had a "Camby" type player. One that could really mentor like Watson will for the guards.

Yeah, someone like Jermaine wouldn't have worked because I'm sure he wants consistent minutes. Who is still out there?

    Juwan Howard maybe?

You are going to laugh, but I think trading for a scola would be good.

    Wasn't Scola just traded though?

Jul 27, 2013 - Luis Scola was acquired by the Indiana Pacers from the Phoenix Suns in a trade.

We don't need another rotation player. We need an insurance player. Scola would want minutes. We need someone like Juwan Howard, who won't demand minutes but can play if needed and will help give the team some veteran leadership.

Hmmm, I wonder what type of player is available then. I just don't see Howard being an option. I definitely want an older player though.

Hard to say. Not sure who's still out there, but I was merely using Howard as an example. He is the type of player we need.

Out of that list, I like Antawn Jamison, Wilcox, Diop, Petro

Again, Jamison is a rotation player. We don't have minutes for him.

Wilcox, Diop, and Petro would not work as the "veteran leader" type of player. Diop would be fine as a third stringer though.

If you go to NBA.com's free agent tracker, it shows you who is still available.

    http://www.nba.com/freeagents/2013/

From the list, I think Joel Przybilla is probably the only guy that fits the veteran leader/third stringer role. Maybe Drew Gooden?

I would like Gooden actually. I think he has that fire and toughness. I would agree on Pyz, but I doubt he will want to come back.

I don't think Joel has many suitors, so I would bet he would jump at the chance to come back. I just don't know if Neil has plans to bring another big in.

I think CJ will be the big loser in minutes here at the start of the year when everyone is healthy. I don’t think the coaches will give him and Mo each 15 minutes as backups; 80% of those minutes will go to Mo. So CJ is looking at some nights with less than 10mins and possibly a few DNP-CD. That said between Dam, Mo, Wes, Nic, Wright odds are unfortunately very high at some point a few games are missed with an injury. That group has a lot of versatility position wise so CJ could indirectly take for example Nic's minutes if he was hurt. So that will be CJ's chance to show he deserves PT.

Who are you going to cut after camp, or even right now? Is Earl Watson just going to be paid to do nothing for the season? Once camp ends, the Blazers only get 15 rosters spots. They have 15 guaranteed contracts for next season as it is right now after signing Mo Williams. Harris will be waived at some point during camp, since he is the 16th player, and the team option is triggered on 10/31. Barring a trade, those 15 are going to be the opening day roster, unless Paul Allen just wants to piss away Earl Watson's contract for the year and sign a Juwan Howard.
