With no A-Rod next season who do you guys see playing 3rd for the 2014 Yankees. Rumor has it that they're going to be working with Nunez extensively during the off season to learn the position. THOUGHTS?
I like Nunez at the dish, and on the bases but he flat out scares me on "D". IF he could make the transition it would be a good in house lateral transfer.
I say absolutely no to Nunez at third. The guy cannot throw the ball from short so to ask him to make the longest throw would make no sense to me.
You're right. That being said if Nunez was playing second the fans in the stands behind first would have to sign a waiver.
Well, we know he can't play short and has little to none trade value. Playing him at third the rest of the way maybe we get lucky and thats his niche. His offense and speed would be nice to find a position for
2 Things I would like to see for next year. I would like to see Soriano owning besides his outfielders A2000 glove, and as a former middle infielder, own a firstbasemans glove to back up Tex and give the lineup more flexibility. I would like to see us acquire a shortstop and move Jeter to 3B. Cabrera from Cleveland would be my target. Nunez has shown to have a arm that plagued Knobby. He's our Ebby Calvin Nuke Laloosh we just don't have a bull.
There's no way Jeter is moving to 3B. JMO. And as far as a backup 1st baseman I'm still hoping we can pick up Kendrys Morales as a backup 1st baseman / DH
...I see no reason why Jeter can't move to 3B IF they can find a capable replacement at SS and considering his health questions, I would think he'd be receptive to the idea...hell, Ripkin did it when he started to slow...I also think the idea about Soriano playing backup at 1B is a valid one. We know his bat is better than Overbay's and I gotta believe his defense would be no worse than Overbay's...again, we're talking about a backup role here. No reason to waste another roster spot and sign another backup 1Bman when Soriano can fill the spot.
That was my point 59. It saves a roster spot for another area of need, If Tex went down again with a wrist injury, We would already have a 20HR, 80 RBi guy in the wings. And then if we were to fail in bringing McCann in then maybe Ryan Doumit, as a C/1B/DH on the cheap.
No way Jeter moves to 3b. That position needs power and Jeter is not that type. the dimished mind of a soon to be 40 year old
Really? Looking at some of the successful teams this year..... Braves 3rd baseman has 9 HRs. Orioles 3rd baseman has 10 HRs. Reds 3rd baseman has 10 HRs. & the Dodgers 3rd baseman has 6 HRs. Just to name a few. Not a whole lot of power there my friend.
Yeah cause both the birds and reds are lacking in power from there other power positions that they need from 3b. The dodgers have superior pitching and play in a pitchers park.... if your going to say Grandy comes back and his 40 and text is back and his 30 and Sori good for 25 than having Jeter play 3rd isn't unreasonable. the dimished mind of a soon to be 40 year old
========================================== ...lol...meanwhile the SS position needs speed/range...and Jeter is not that type. (you're making this way too easy)
You said Jeter would not move to 3rd because THAT position needs power. I just gave you a small sample showing that such a statement is ridiculous.
