Does it matter? There is a religious and secular war going on in Egypt, which our president considered a foreign policy success as recently as a year ago. Today, he golfs while people are being slaughtered Egypt, and meanwhile, the White House is still not open for tours, which is such a cheap political stunt that nobody even remembers it was Obama who stopped the tours. He's a fucking disaster. Bush was a disaster. Obama has taken what Bush did and made it far, far worse.
Nobody knows right now. What is known is that a country that was one of the most modernized in the Arab world just a few years ago is now in flames.

I don't get why some people think the Arab Spring was a foreign policy move by the Obama administration. If you think we should have quashed it and favored the dictators, go ahead and just be openly colonialist and get it over with. But in reality, we had little to do with it. Egypt was stable for years because we funneled billions of dollars per year into the Mubarak regime. Oh, and I'm fairly sure that it's the military that controls the 1.5 billion dollars in military aid we give Egypt per year. The same military that just killed 600 citizens today.

Who knows what the Arab Spring was about? I'm guessing it was a calculated push by the Muslim Brotherhood to get in power, considering Obama had the Muslim Brotherhood at the WH shortly after that first coup of democracy. It worked for a while, but the world is now seeing Obama for the fool he is.
