General Motors is recalling 292,879 of its Chevrolet Cruze compact sedans in the U.S. because the power assist for the brakes can fail due to a faulty switch. If the assist system fails, the driver could still stop the car, but the pedal effort required would grow much greater as the remaining vacuum assist dissipates. GM says the recall covers models from the 2011 and 2012 model years that are equipped with the 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with the six-speed automatic. It does not include the base LS model that comes with a non-turbo 1.8-liter four, nor cars with manual transmission. Read more http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/08/16/gm-cruze/2664793/
