The donut shop in downtown SD has a similar one. Its good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat it. But, the Kouign Amman (they are called DKA at the Cronut guy's shop) is amazing. My wife and I made some a couple of weeks ago and were pretty good, but obviously not as good as his. Its basically a croissant, but in between the layers is sugar, then when it is baked it caramelizes. Its way better than the imitation Cronuts I've had. The answer is "no". Just wait until the hype dies down and try it. Its a donut/crossaint mix..unless you're like a raving donut fan its a huge waste of time.
I just remembered that I forgot to get my free voodoo donut at the Timbers game last night! Aaaaaaarrrgh!
Yeah, there are like 15 places in LA that makes imitations...I remember Krispy Kremes used to have lines down the block, now you can't give that shit away for free. :MARIS61:
I'm sure the hype will die down, but he said he isn't going to start making many more per day. So with only 350 cronuts a day in NYC, they're always going to be in short supply. I still say go later in the day and get the DKA and then get an imitation on somewhere else.
