Re: Grizz counting on Swift to take Gasol's Place http://www.commercialappeal.com/mca/grizzl...5000006,00.htmlI'm guessing they decided they wanted him after all since Pau's hurt.
Re: Grizz counting on Swift to take Gasol's Place I think Warrick is going to come out strong...not really swift. We know wut he can do...block and dunk. Im expecting Hak to have a breakout year with Pau out.
Re: Grizz counting on Swift to take Gasol's Place Hakim Warrick just isn't that good and he's too small to play PF in my opinion. He's a PF locked in a SF's body and it would be tough for him. Stromile Swift has been a career underachiever, I don't see it changing. The Grizzlies will definitely struggle on offense with Gasol out, man.
Re: Grizz counting on Swift to take Gasol's Place Swift taking the place of Gasol? Please, don't make me laugh. He could barely supplant Juwan Howard in the starting lineup.
Re: Grizz counting on Swift to take Gasol's Place Hakim Warrick has been working with Dejuan Wagner, Carmelo, and Cuttino Mobley all summer. During the summer league(which wasnt on TV), it was reported that Warrick can handle the ball better, his speed has always been there, but what reporters said that he developed and nive 15 footer. So I dont even consider him a PF anymore. Hes a SF. He said that all summer al he has been doing is playing with wing players, shooting three, and trying to get better handles. I see him having a better year than stro...which isnt saying much, but its better than 4ppg.
Re: Grizz counting on Swift to take Gasol's Place During the 2006 offseason, Warrick represented Memphis in the Southern California Summer Pro League (?SPL?). Warrick was one of only two Memphis players to play and start in all seven games of the SPL. In those games, he averaged 17.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.1 spg, 1.0 bpg and shot 55% from the field on 12.7 shots per game. While it is somewhat concerning that Memphis traded for rookie Rudy Gay when they already had a player of the same size, with good athletic ability, in Warrick, there is hope that Warrick sees decent minutes. The loss of Pau Gasol, 7-0, 240lbs, is tough for Memphis. They?re not overly blessed with a lot of size in their frontcourt. Barring a trade, this team is going to have to rely on a smaller lineup until Gasol returns.
