The beauty of the FULL baseball season is opening up before our very eyes. The Yanks may not make the playoffs but they sure have ALREADY made a few experts/fans look silly. I'm almost embarrassed for those TV/Radio talking heads and so-called fans who were smugly shoveling dirt on the Yankees' grave a couple of months ago. As I've said before the season started --- with the expectations for the Yankees being the lowest in recent memory-- this could be one of the more exciting and rewarding seasons in Yankee history. Lets get a healthy Jeter back for a September push...have a couple of the other hitters take turns getting HOT..... Maybe, possibly...Pettitte, CC and Nova pitching consistently well with the bullpen holding the fort....AND....and......we could very well be playing for a pennant. GO YANKS! Remember '78 !
It didn't look good as they were all but dead after the Whitesox series. They still have plenty of work to do but they have made it exciting. The problem with such a big hole is that you can't afford another slip. They can't afford a bad series in Tampa.
I thought the Yankees would be OK when they got their people back but it was longer in coming that I thought it would be. When the pitching was good and this team was down by three or four runs the offense was terrible. Now that the lions and tigers are back the nits and gnats are getting better stuff to hit. I also like the small ball incorporated but we need to see the starting staff really get up like big dogs.
