After reading the article. I want to work for the Yankees. Because if it was any other company in America, people would be fired....

After you read that article, and you look at the example Verducci gives, there is no way you can defend the organization. Plus, what stood out to me was the International Free Agent signings, are the only evidence of success in bringing talent into the organization, and what do we do recently, be pass on Darvish, Puig and the likes.

...lol...look who shows up with the the obligatory Cashman/Management bashing post...no posts for over a week while the Yanx were playing well, but now, after 2 losses, you crawl out from under your rock...why exactly is that?
...and here I thought ARod was a fraud.

... Tom Verducci?...yeah, it's not like he's bias or anything...using HRs to measure minor league talent?...brilliant.

Verducci, he and Costas do excellent player interviews but in other presentations the man makes I find him to have a bit of an abrasive personality. That being said with Verducci being the hot shot sports guy why doesn't he jump in their for a job. He's in possession of one quality we fans don't have and that is accessibility. Go head buddy, jump in there and tell the Steinbrenner Tadpoles you want to be a GM. The Yankees have their organizational problems but they must be fixed by people who know what they are doing. And on that note take loose cannon Pleasac with you to be the pitching coach.

There is a double edge sword by being the Yankees. They make the most money of any team, and make more than probably half the teams combined, so they reinvest that income into their players and subsidizing 1/3 of the rest of the league between revenue sharing and luxury taxes. This makes it easier for other teams (Tampa Bay cough) to be a crappy team, make a profit and get high first round talent.

Now, the Yankees built a strong roster of core home grown players, those players needed additional pieces to win the multiple championships as we know. That meant using the huge net income found on their bottom line of their profit and loss statement by overpaying for other players to fill in needs. Sometimes it was obvious needs, others, unnecessary spending just to spend on the best available player. That theory is now backfiring (after winning so many games, divisions, playoffs and World Series) in that the core is either retired or vastly overpaid for past performance.

Winning has an affect in that no top end ready made players are available when the Yanks draft. Either picking in the bottom 10% of each round or loss of picks because of free agents, it does not lead to a healthy farm system. Yes they have struck out too many times where other teams seem to find gems (AP and mike piazza for example).

Over spending for those championships and failures on some recent international players (kay igawa, andy morales) has led them to be gun shy in OVERSPENDING for international non drafted players. Reminder they spend x dollars on those players, not only are they spending that on player development but are being burdened by spending up to 60% to finance other teams to go out and compete for those same players.

Has the talent evaulators been horrible...? yes..do they need to revisit who is managing their minor league system....yes

But...before we start bashing this organization for the current and near future state of affairs...ask yourself this question...would you rather be a Yankee fan this past 10 to 15 years or any other team in professional sports? How about being a Pirates fan....Cubs fan...

This fan base knows nothing of real incompetance from the top down. 3(going on 4) years of not winning a championship and everyone should be fired..OMG the fucking world is ending. The manager is clueless...the GM cant hit the front side of a barn....

    SPOILED.

I havent been posting much wins or losses, and havent posted nearly anything releated to day to day in game play. As i have stated many times, I am not so concered about 2013 as I am the future of this organization. This articles has nothing whatsoever to do with the yankees winning or losing and has everything to do with the problems with the farm. You want to complain about timing, complain to Verducci, not me.

Im really tired of the woe is me "the yankees never have good draft slots so you cant expect much" excuse. They wasted some pretty valuable picks on guys like Culer and Bichette Jr. They also failed to develop some pretty high ceilling guys as well. The injuries are off the charts to the point where you almost have to question what is going on down there. Its not all about draft slots. The yankees have been irresponsible in their drafting and player development. The redsox and Cardinals dont finish in last place very often and they sure dont have too many problems developing players. The farm system is a very real problem right now and its going to lead to further problems and probably more bad contracts down the line. Everyone here are yankee fans and want to see this team continue to have success. But that doesnt mean pointing out very real issues is a bad thing. You dont have to bash anyone if you do not want to, but the days of defending cashman are over. He has failed this team in his contstruction of a farm system and player development program and it is time to rebuild this entire process. That has to start with a new leader at the top.

I couldn't agree with you more. Any great corporation has problems. Al you pointed out Bill Gates, sure , he has made mistakes but not continually. And if you're microsoft or google you are in essence competing against yourself much like the Yankees and their success over nearly 2 decades. With the new challenges like the luxury tax, money alone can no longer hide or put lipstick on the pig. In the years ahead, the farm system will prove to be more powerful than money. As Y points out, for one it will prohibit the Yankees from overspending to fill holes and continually add bad contracts one after the other.

...and I'm really tired of people blindly regurgitating the same BS over and over about the farm...you really have no idea how the Yanx farm stacks up against other teams do you?...nope, because you're ignorant of the facts and just spouting off as usual. Their system is not nearly as bad as you like to make it out to be.
...I seriously do not think you are capable of making a positive post of any kind concerning this franchise.

When you get through all the back and forth and rhetoric on this thread (some homerism, some general disagreement), the bottom line is that the Yankees farm system is not productive, and where the team drafts has nothing to do with it. Picking the right players has a lot to do with it, and how the players (once someone signs off on picking them) are developed has even more to do with it. Changes are required here in drafting and in player development - I really do not see why anyone would argue with this, since many defending the current state are also the ones who told us that the 2013 Yankees would have 3 Killer B's in the rotation.

I know what the yankee system has produced and how many failures it has had. I know that there is not 1 significant prospect of any kind in the top levels waiting to make an impact. I know that there is not one prospect of note that has really made any kind of strides at allt this year. Some have regressed and as usual a bunch are on the shelf. The system is not working. Have fun pointing fingers at me for bringing this up and burying your head in the sand as usual. I am not the problem. You would just rather "spout off" about a poster's style than the actual substance of the conversation. You are going to sit here and tell us all that you are not concerned about the farm and player development?

I was "wrong" about CC. I was "wrong' about A-rod, i was "wrong" about Hughes, i was "wrong" about cashman etc etc etc. I am wrong a lot according to some, until its proven that I am not. And then people just like to pretend they saw these things all along and didnt foolishly defend them. Its not about me making negative posts, its about actual problems this team has, and the continued mistakes they make, some repeated again and again without any accountability. Me pointing them out angers some? Tough luck. Deal with it because the yankees now have to.

...you're wrong again...do some research instead of making broad generalized statements...Keith Law and Mike Axisa also disagree with you.

...now is about the time in the convo where you start making things up.

Go ahead. Enlighten me about all those great prospects in A ball and how the yankees have nothing to worry about with their player development system. I'll wait.

You must mean the Mike Axisa that said this:

"Of course, the team’s reliance on over-the-hill has-beens could have been mitigated if the farm system Brian Cashman has been talking about since getting his “autonomy” in 2005 actually produced a competent everyday player once in a while. Eduardo Nunez? Frankie Cervelli? lol. I’m sure Zoilo Almonte will come ride in on a white horse to save the day. The Yankees have done a fine job talking the talk when it comes to building from within and developing their own players, but they’ve fallen flat on their face when it comes to walking the walk. Outside of the Mariners, I’m not sure any team has gotten less from more out of their farm system than New York in recent years."

...there are young players on the team right now who are producing...are they all stars?...no, but they're still learning to play at this level...there are also more youngsters still on the farm who may very well be ready in 2015.

...as far as the farm not producing in the past, I'd like to know where these hypothetical players were supposed to play?...the whole IF has been set for some time now and has been under contract...as far as the OF, Granderson has been there awhile, Gardner is a given, and so is Ichiro....but I guess you and yb are like some others who expect the Yanx to be 2 and 3 deep at every position with little or no drop off in production...do you of any other teams who are so blessed?...no.

...enlighten you?...would it really do any good?....would it do any good to list them or link the rankings of the the Yanx system?...no, and why?...because you'd simply discount it or disregard it as you generally do.
