I stated that it was going to take 2 years to rebuild the OL and DL lines. That looks dead on. The guards and centers on this team are horrific.

LB is an entirely different story. They are the laughing stock of the NFL.

Eli has looked like a lost imbecile this off-season. He is missing receivers by 10 yards. He obviously has no faith in his crappy line. I suspect this is going to be a bad football team. Reese has been totally incompetent acquiring extra draft picks with trades. If this team stinks early, I hope he dumps a couple of players for extra picks. I've said this for years.

This team needs two 1's and two 2's in a draft, needs to draft 2 quality LB's, a big time center and guard.

Giants are just stale, when it comes down to holding on to guys too long. Tuck and Diehl should not be with this team anymore after last season's horrific performances, and Fewell and Gilbride should have been cut loose as well this off-season after both units failed to show any improvements. LB has been completely ignored for too many years, both in the draft and FAs, and as a result competition for starting spots are between guys who should be competing just to make a roster - the heck with starting.

Go root for the Jets then and deal with that circus. I'll stick with the "stale" team which has won two titles in five years. You cannot judge teams based off of preseason games.

They are stale - I'll take the 2 SBs, but that does not mean we have to put up with the late season collapses and missed playoffs. Even Mara and Reese said that wasn't good enough. If you want to defend Diehl, Tuck, Fewell, and Gilbride deserving of keeping their jobs - I'd love to hear your reasons. The defense under Fewell has been terrible for a few years now, Diehl hasn't been a good player for years, etc.

Why don't you go root for the Jets instead - my guess is that the 2 SBs have you giving this team a pass for a few years, so why would even care if they won or lost? Because it sounds like if they lose - you are going to rationalize by saying 'they won 2 SBs in 6 years'.

Let's face it, I'm a die hard Giants fan and they got incredibly lucky the last two SuperBowl wins. They were nothing close to a dominant team. Neither were the San Francisco Giants. They were incredibly lucky as well. Most Giants fans always think their GM can do no wrong. They loved Accorsi and that moron couldn't draft for years. If you look at Reese's drafts, the are getting a lot worse as many of their players aren't any good. They keep going with best player available which is dumb. They draft guys that never play for 2-3 years because the position is already stocked and then they lose their skills.

The reality is that the team has no LB's that can play, Snee is washed up so the team has two lousy guards and a lousy center. To sum up, the offensive line can't run block, can pass block up the middle, can't use ball control. The incompetent LB's never can stop short slants or screens, can't stop any 3rd down play and can't even come close to containing any mobile QB. This season is over.

Let's not go overboard. The season is NOT over - it hasn't even started. I think the Giants have not purged some under-performing players and the coaches, and that is cause for concern, but the NFC East is wide open.

You can say they got lucky with the two Super Bowls all you want. That doesn't change the fact that they won them. I say let the season play out before making assumptions about what's going to happen. We haven't seen Nicks and Cruz on the field together yet. They have a running back who can break off an 80 yard run at anytime and can return a kick for a TD at anytime. When was the last time the Giants had that on offense? Assuming they can all stay on the field you tell me another team in the league with a better receiving corps. Nicks was hampered most of last season and they dealt with running back issues yet the Giants still managed to be in the top five or six in points scored. On the defensive side of the ball the Stevie Brown injury sucks but this is what happens to every team. If JPP can get back to dominating that will help the overall defense greatly. You want a bad team in the division. Go check out the Eagles and let me know which roster you would rather have.

Bottom line. Do Giants have the depth to help the 'ugly' OL? the LB corp?
If not, this team is ticketed for a sub .500 season.......AND THEN
we can all dream of their SB victories.......with a new head coach, a new
    staff.....etc.

Here are the differences with the team that won the 2 SuperBowls compared to this one.

    1. The SuperBowl teams had a top OL and DL. This teams OL blows.
    2. The DL on those championship teams had 3 big time pass rushers. Right now, this team has one. Tuck half the player he was.
    3. Each of those teams had one LB with talent playing on a pro-bowl level that year that lifted the level of the other scrubs on the LB core. Pierce one year, Boley the other. This team doesn't have one legit talent at the LB position.

If they have a good season will we have to characterize it as luck again?

As the old saying goes there's a reason they play the games. There's nothing like a big week one matchup to define things.
