American lawyer and negotiator Richard Law has arrived signaling Arsenal's intent to hash out deals in the final week of the transfer window. Law, Wenger, Gazidis, and the board are expected to splash-out this week and finally dig into the 70-million pound war chest they've been sitting on all summer. Arsenal play Fenerbahce tomorrow in an effort to solidify their place in the Champions League which is expected to be a major bargaining chip. The seven players Arsenal have (publicly) shortlisted are: Karim Benzema, F, Real Madrid Mesut Ozil, M, Real Madrid Angel di Mara, W, Real Madrid Yohan Cabaye, M, Newcastle Utd Vicente Guaita, G, Valencia Juan Mata, M, Chelsea Mathieu Flamini, M, Free Agent The three players from Real Madrid will supposedly become available once the transfer for Gareth Bale is finalized. Benzema is seen as the most difficult get from Madrid as the player is reluctant to leave Bernabeu and Madrid don't have a replacement ready. Ozil has been an integral piece for Madrid appearing in over 150 games for them in the past three seasons but the 24-year old would be displaced by Bale. Di Mara is also seen as expendable with Bale incoming. The 25-year old Argentine has 25 goals and 53 assists for The Whites in three seasons. Arsenal have made a bid for Yohan Cabaye--one which Newcastle chose to make public in an effort to drive up his price. Arsenal could place an increased bid for the player or switch gears and go after another of their midfield targets. Flamini offers Arsenal a similar although older option and could be snapped-up regardless of other signings due to his status as a free agent. Guaita is another player Arsenal have supposedly made a bid for. Arsenal are looking to bolster their goalkeeping and Guaita, who hasn't played yet this year for Valencia and thus isn't cup-tied, looks to be Arsenal's top choice. Mata is an intriguing prospect. Wenger was high on him last summer but wasn't up for paying an exorbitant release clause for the player. The creative Spaniard has been playing off the bench for the Blues this year and could decide he'd be better utilized elsewhere--though dealing with Jose Mourinho could be difficult given his history with Wenger.
