Well the thing is, I've been hearing rave reviews from Benoit in camp while Tyner is in a boot. Benoit is slated to back up Marshall, and let's see for next year, as DAT will be declaring for the draft. Depth chart: Marshall Jr. Tyner True Soph Benoit True Soph Royce Fr Mixon Fr If we get Mixon, we would have the best stable of backs in the entire COUNTRY. Would Royce or Mixon want to redshirt? The both of them are incredibly talented backs that would make Saban drool. These guys would want to start whenever they can. For Mixon, I think the schools in his top 5 aside from Florida have legitimate qualms for producing NFL backs. Cal produced Marshawn Lynch. Wisconsin produced Montee Ball and that one RB in the 90s(Reggie White?). Oklahoma produced Adrien Peterson. Oregon has produced some good backs yes, but they aren't doing so well in the league thus far. LMJ is behind Gore and is pretty much going to be passed over for Marcus Lattimore once Lattimore recovers and he's a scat back. Kenyon is going to wallow in Carolina. Blount and J-Stew haven't been themselves for the last couple of years. Mixon could switch to WR or use his athletisim to be an OLB or Safety(wouldn't the first time an offensive prospect becomes a defensive stud). But I think he would want to play offense. If we grab Mixon, that would be amazing. I just wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket on him. Besides, we still need to grab a new DAT for next year, whether it be Budda Baker or Tony James.
I don't think Mixon has DAT speed where Tyner does. Rolls is a punishing back, if you have time watch some of his high school tape, this kid is not shy on running into traffic. Further he looks like he's cut from pure steel! I should also note Rolls played LB for his high school since he was a freshman. RB has just happened in the last year of his high school. I think the Mixon decision will come right after we make the national championship this year. I don't think the Sooners, Badgers or Gators are going the same direction the Ducks are or as fast. Cal could be a threat, but when they win 4 games this year, the thought of being the featured back there might lose a little of its luster. I don't think the BBQ BOWL by the time he's a senior will hold a ton of street cred to a kid like Mixon. To be clear, Mixon would be nice, but Rolls is the kid I wanted and he's already committed so I'm very pleased!
I never said he had DAT speed. It is close to home. But hey, USC was close to DAT. You never know. We'll see on the bowl results of this year and on how the teams mentioned use their bruising backs. I see the ducks making a BCS bowl, and maybe the Gators. Wisconsin is a sleeper and Anderson knows RBs(See: Turbin and Kerywn Williams). Oklahoma will toss the Peterson angle, and with the lack of a QB not named Bradford or Jones they would assure Mixon gets playing time. But hey, if he commits to Oregon, super fun time!
I don't know where you're getting your info from, but rivals insiders were indicating he was Oregon's to lose for a long time prior to his visit based largely on his great relationship with Coach Campbell. In pretty much every recruiting article I read on him he always mentioned UO first in his list of potential schools always siting GC. STOMP
Being down in Hermosa, every LA paper had Royce going to UCLA and the USC alumni were going nuts over it. At the same time USC is besides themselves over the Mixon news too and not making the cut!
They already got 2 big backs in Davis and that Illinois guy. Besides, as long as Lamo Kiffint is there, they ain't getting no one. I mean, Bama is taking their commits and targets instead
Colorado Lineman Sam Jones tweeted that he'll be at this weekends game...there is a bit of chatter that he may declare STOMP
hearing both Budda Baker & Adoree Jackson are trying to make their schedules work out to take OVs to the Tennessee game STOMP
I'm looking very much forward to the BBQ that the Vol fans will bring to Autzen. Tennessee fans are great people! Look forward to the game!
Yes Rolls is a special kid and just like Mariota, very hard working and super humble. We are very fortunate he's a Duck!
Pennsylvania DB Montae Nickolson has scheduled an OV for the UCLA weekend 10/25. There has been some chatter that Oregon may be recruiting him as a WR STOMP
Grabbing him is gonna be tough. Penn State and Michigan are in good graces with the guy, and don't count out Florida State and Stanford. Both schools have made some good DBs and can use that as a selling point. And we have enough WRs IMO. I mean, we got Allen and Darren last year, plus Addison is going to be around.
He's been interested in Oregon for a while, and Michigan publicly pulled their offer a couple weeks back which is why they aren't listed in his profile The Ducks are graduating 2 starting WRs and one backup this year. Expect them to sign a few kids STOMP
Oh, I didn't know Montae's offer got pulled <:V. Nice to see we still have a shot then. Don't count out Penn State though. The idea of playing with a stud like Hackenberg would be too tasty to resist. We're getting Baker no doubt. He's either gonna be an Elam-esque safety or be the next DAT
Oregon is always the underdog to pull a kid from that far away, but the next thing I'm concerned with is him saying he might want to study Engineering in college (which UO doesn't offer). Of course with a 17 year old that potential major might be changing by the moment, and smart kids usually have more then one interest to pursue. Hope so. He seems very positive in his statements about Oregon, but I don't have a good read on him. Love the possibility of his OV coinciding with Adoree's... greed is good right? STOMP
Oooookay. Some good news. We can pluck prospects from... Texas because Mack Brown's seat is getting warm and USC as Kiffin't is going to be fired real quick. So, which recruits should we swoop in on?
