Re: UFC Fight Night 28: Teixeira vs. Bader (Sep/4) That was a damn good card. Awesome finishes by Piotr (after eating some nasty body shots in the 1st), Benavidez, Jacare, and Glover. The Pole, Piotr looks like the real deal. He can sustain damage, he took a massive amount of body damage in the 1st round only to come back and win it in the 2nd. Very interested to see how his career pans out. I think he's won 10 in a row now. Benavidez deserves a rematch against Mighty Mouse, and I think he'll win. Jacare's striking looked scary good. His BJJ is already A+++, if his striking is really this good, we've got another player at MW. Bader came out swinging for the fences. I forgot how hard he hits. He rocked Glover a few times in the fight. Glover took Bader down twice rather easily I believe. Nice boxing by Glover to land a combo while up against the cage to end Bader. I'm sure he's going to get the winner of Jones/Gustaffson. Glover has some sick power. I don't think he'd be able to beat Jones, but I'd like to see if he can land a few combos.
Results Sean Spencer def. Yuri Villefort via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28) Ivan Jorge def. Keith Wisniewski via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28) Elias Silverio def. Joao Zeferino via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27) Lucas Martins def. Ramiro Hernandez via technical submission (rear-naked choke) - Round 1, 1:10 Edimilson Souza def. Felipe Arantes via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) Ali Bagautinov def. Marcos Vinicius via TKO (punches) - Round 3, 3:28 Rafael Natal def. Tor Troeng via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) Piotr Hallmann def. Francisco Trinaldo via submission (kimura) - Round 2, 3:50 Joseph Benavidez def. Jussier Formiga via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 3:07 Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza def. Yushin Okami via TKO (punches) - Round 1, 2:47 Glover Teixeira def. Ryan Bader via TKO (punches) - Round 1, 2:55
I was most looking forward to seeing Ali Bagautinov fight. Dunno how Vina made 125-lbs. but he was massive in there next to the natural flyweight. I think Bagautinov had a few jitters to work through and possibly an adrenaline dump in the second round but he came through. Should be interesting to see if he's another Nurmagomedov. Teixeira ate a few shots from Bader and didn't look like he could take any more. His pseudo rope-a-dope with Bader paid off. He let Bader open up and waited for his chance to counter. If Bader kept picking his shots and didn't get wild there he might've been able to knock Teixeira out.
That straight right he landed was nasty. Bader got too loose with his striking. That uppercut he threw left him wide open. He should have stuck with spamming the overhand right.
