One out away and Mo blows the save then Girardi for some odd reason brings in Joba and shocker he gives Boston the lead. Soriano also gets caught trying to steal home and Joe brings in a lefty and then intentionally walks a lefty. Stupid crazy game tonight. They really needed to win this one and it will sting I am afraid in more ways than one.
I was listening to the MLB Network on TV before the game yesterday. And they kept talking about how Nova hasn't given up a homer in over 51 innings straight. I knew then something was going to go bad for the team. I looked at the game on my phone late last night. I couldn't watch because I had a late soccer game to play. But I saw Mo gave up the lead, then Joba sucked as usual. And then I saw Nova of course gave up a homer and didn't last long. Thank you MLB Network for the jinx! A game where we score 8 runs and lose really blows! And losing to the Sox makes it even worse!!!
Terrible base running by Soriano, terrible catching by Romine with that throw to 2B, terrible pitching and bad choices by Joe cost a game that the bats handed the team on a silver platter. But the Red Sox can beat the Yankees 7 days a week and twice on Sunday late, they own the NY bullpen, so it was no surprise, even with two outs I was less than confident Mo could close it, he's just not good against Boston, Ortiz alone has like a .400 BA against him. It's amazing how quick things change, now the offense is electric, but the pitching stinks all around.
It was obvious Mo wasn't sharp last night from the first batter. That being said when you have nobody on and you're one strike away you have to get it done.
I was surprised Mo was pitching to begin with. I assumed Robertson would pitch the 9th and a combo of relievers could have handled the 8th. Joe really did not do well managing that game and Soriano and his base running really hurt.
Bingo, they keep running Mo out there, those other clowns in the pen get a check, so make get their collective heads out of there a@@es and perform. What the hell does Rothchild do for Gods sake.
You see what I see. Under the circumstances after having a 4 out save the night before, and with Big Papi hitting Mo in the past, I thought it was a legitimate argument that the booth brought up to use Logan on Ortiz. That way Mo would have only 2 out and maybe a 10 pitch outing. There is no way he is available tonight. Not making excuses but he's not the horse he use to be. Can u imagine being a major league manager and having a Mo in your bullpen. He would have a 100 appearances a year with me managing.
Afraid to make Mo look weak which is wrong considering the main goal is to win the game. Regardless though Mo was flat.
