Joe Girardi is not a good manager. Plain & simple. And please I don't want to hear from anyone how great of a job he's done considering what he's had to deal with. BULLSHIT! Even with all the injuries ANY manager could have made the Yankees a 500 team which is basically what they were prior to Soriano, Granderson & A-Rod joining in. Girardi has made some of the biggest bone head decisions I've ever seen in my 50+ years of following this game. And the fact that he STILL has faith in morons like Hughes & Joba only confirms that he is not what this teams needs going forward. Yeah I know, "If I don't use Joba or Hughes then who?" Anyone else Joe, anyone else. because it would be IMPOSSIBLE for anyone else to do worse then these two clowns. I've said it before & its worth repeating, If the boss was still around Girardi would have been canned a long time ago.
The complete botch job of the pitching staff the last two games was downright laughable. Nova needed to pitch the fifth inning on Thursday. Last night you have to tell Andy he needed to attempt to give you something in the seventh inning. We know the bullpen is short handed but you simple cannot allow Joba and Hughes to continue to destroy games. You're telling me there's noboby better in the minors? They couldn't get something at the deadline or off waivers better than these scrubs? There needs to be some major housecleaning and that includes Girardi and Cashman.
Was in a local bar last night, they were waiting for the Rays game and would not put the Yankee Game on. Good thing, I was following on my smart phone and first check found the Yankees ahead 4-1. I'd turn off the phone when the Bostons were batting figuring times needed to get through the inning. At top 7 I turned off the game, came back 15 minutes later to find Hughes pitching and the score 8-4. Saw Boone Baboon strike out Big Sloppi then give up the bomb to Napoli. At that point I damn near threw the phone on the floor wanting to crush it. As bad a s Hughes had been I could not believe Girardi put him in there. From that point it all went down hill and when Chucky Cheese came in I just turned it off. I really thing Hughes and Joba realize this is it and marking time not caring but they will at the winter meetings when their $ value is low. There won't be a job in Chicago for Girardi, if they passed on Sandberg they won't sniff Joe at all.
The thing that really bugs me about clueless Joe is that the Yankees are in a pennant race. Like you said, SUCK IT UP! let Nova go to the 5th, give Andy one more inning. And for gods sake with so much riding on these wins WHY would you risk losing by giving the ball to two guys that have produced nothing but shit all season long. And the really sad thing is that unlike there father (who would never let this happen) Hank & Hal think Giradri is the greatest thing since the invention of ice cream & will do nothing about this. Guaranteed if the boss were still around he would have been on the phone to Tony LaRussa or he would have grabbed Francona before the season started.
As an organization you cannot allow yourself to be ruined by the like of Hughes and Joba in September. Hughes was in the rotation far too long. This is too little too late. Joba has been complete dog crap all season long. Cashman had all year to get an arm or two for the pen and did nothing. Lets instead keep guys that couldn't be any worse.
