the people that are responsible for overseeing the general health and conditioning of this team. I for one have lost a little faith in the medical staff given the injuries and re-injuries. And it would seem we are the least condition team in baseball given the amount of injuries for a team that plays 81 games on grass. I realize we are an older team, but really?
I've been wondering that myself. I've followed this team since '55 and don't ever remember a Yankee Team being in the poor condition that this one is. Yesterday I was going over some of the early "ought" teams and their average age was not much different than the current unit but they sure kept the product on the field. We've all been barking about change they probably need a clean sweep and get rid of those who have become complacent in their jobs.
Well lets review.............. Jeter 127 games A-Rod 113 games Granderson 100 games Teixeira 129 games Nunez 67 games Cervelli 127 games Youkilis 116 games Hafner 63 games Nix 57 games And I'm sure I missed others.
Wow, Rick and when you realize that Grandy, Cervelli, and Nix was because of being hit by pitch. Hafner and Youkilis were already in reality broken when we got them. And there has been Almonte, Josephn, Nuno, Phelps the list keeps going. And to a lesser extent, Andy, Joba and Cesar Cabral spent at least a 15 day DL stints that turned into longer. Here is the list for 2013 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/teams/new-york-yankees/injuries.html
