Placed on the 15 Day DL and will not be back. The Captain is a warrior, lets hope he gets back next spring and has a year akin to Mo this year!

Sad we'll never see Mo and Jeter on the field together again.

You also have to wonder if we have seen the end of the core 4. Posada gone, Mo gone after season, Pettitte probably done after season and if Jeter cannot get ankle straightened out then bam the core 4 is gone. Sad.

Not a lot of players hang together for 15+ years. It is sad. I am almost 59 and I have had the pleasure of watching and rooting for nearly a quarter of my life. When you put it that way, it's like loosing a family pet after years of devotion...

I always thought the chances of Jeter playing this season were low. I wasn't surprised he tried to come back but in every instance it was clear he shouldn't of been playing. The guy flat out couldn't run. As discomfort in the ankle grew it was clear he was not able to successfully hit either. My hope is that he's able to take the next five or six months to get himself ready for at least one more season.

I think its a wise decision. and hopefully he'll be okay for next season. and honestly if he does come back I'd settle for 250 during what in all likelihood would be his swan song.
