If we sign LeBron, I think our chances of keeping LMA improve.

lol. Most of those names are already off the market. Lebron probably already knows where's he's going now.

The media might tell you different, but he knows. Don't listen to the media. :)

Which is why teams (have already) started tanking and clearing up capspace. Depending on how we're doing around the trade deadline, I could see us being buyers.

That list isn't as deep as it seems

Lebron: Probably only has 3 realistic choices in Cavs/Heat/Lakers but why would he want to go to the Lakers when that team is going to SUCK because Kobe has said he wont take a paycut
Melo: Loves the big cities because his wife loves them. Means he will probably only leave NY for LA.
Bosh: Can anyone see him giving up 19m and 20m the next two years to opt out and HOPE to get a massive contract? His play and the new CBA are not kind to his chances of getting a Max or Close to max contract
Wade: Same thing with Bosh but in Wades case its his health that has left people questioning how much he has left in the tank. Is their any team with a Max out their that will pay a 31 year old who has had major problems staying healthy recently
ZBO: No reason for the Grizz to let one of their Major pieces go and why would ZBO leave a contender that will pay him just as much as any other team
Pau: This isn't the Gasol of 08. He is 33 with a ton of tread on his tires, still a big name but how much is he actually worth now.
Favors: RFA: Worth more to the Jazz then any other team at the moment, has a year to prove he is worth big money
Granger: The only big "star" that you can say for sure isn't going to stay with their same team. Pacers can't afford to go deep into the luxury tax so paying Granger a lot of money next year doesn't seem to be an option
Cousins: RFA: Might end up being traded by the Kings but he will get a Max deal with whatever team he is on at the start of FA next year
Dirk: Cuban and Dirk have both said multiple times that he will retire a Mav.
Bogut: Unless he is constantly injured again Its hard to see a team that is so horrific on D, when Bogut isn't in the game, let their defensive anchor go.
Gay: Toronto invested a lot into Gay, if they offer him max the only other team that might have a shot at taking him away is LA. With Colangelo gone I would vote for the Raptors not to resign him but you need to sell tickets and that might be a big enough reason to keep Gay around
    Duncan: Will retire a Spur
Gortat: As good as gone but he isn't exactly a star player
    Okafer: Same thing as Gortat
Deng: Bulls tried to trade him and then don't want to give him an extension. With the Bulls always in "avoid luxury tax mode" it seems like a forgone conclusion that he is traded or they let him walk at the end of the year.
Pierce: Old veteran at the end of his career, will he go ring chasing or retire is the real question.

So if your not La you have a realistic shot at Deng/Gortat/Okafer/Granger and then the option to overpay Gasol/Favors. That seems like a real weak "star" FA class when you break it down.

Something tells me Bosh will take less money so Bron can stay in Miami.

I have a feeling Bosh is done being the 3rd wheel and wants to be THE man again. Bet he bounces.

If Miami wins a title again, and they are heavy favorites; do you really see any of Bosh/Wade/LeBron leaving? I highly doubt it, they'll want to be the first team to win four titles in a row in the modern era.

I don't count those ancient Celtic titles there were 8 teams in the league back then and basketball was a niche sport.

MLE for Gortat is the only thing that looks both reasonable and interesting.

Gortat sounds like what you just made me do, throw up a little bit in my mouth.

    Gortat plays no D.

Did you ever watch Gortat play? He plays D and gives a lot of effort on that side of the court. Just because he was on a horrid team that didn't know how to defend doesnt mean he isn't a good defender.

a lot of my posts seem to do that to you :)

    1) I can't imagine his D to be worse than our current backup C
    2) What's the alternative? Not spend our MLE or spend it on someone else? Who?

I've seen Gortat play plenty. When he was in Orlando and in PHX. And he was a horrible defender in both places. I would rather have Lopez than him.

    Yes I said it.

And I stand by my previous post.

Yes but his contract will be. People want to keep going after raggedy bigs instead of developing the one we have.
Meyers is not what he is going to be yet. Let his cake bake.

Why not let ML actually beat someone out? I hope he beats out a healthy Lopez and become our starting center but somehow I don't think it will happen. We'll have more info about ML next offseason. Again, hopefully he bakes, but baking hasn't really worked for several of our players...

If Aldridge leaves there's always ZBo.
