Oscar winner Robert De Niro has been a mainstay in Hollywood for decades. He's starred in some of the finest movies ever put to celluoid, including countless pairings with director Martin Scorsese and the legendary The Godfather Part II. And he's also been in his share of stinkers, playing varying shades of the same gruff, tough guy roles we've seen so many times. De Niro returns to the spotlight this week thanks to the release of The Family. This comedy banks on De Niro's typecast status, as he plays a mafia man forced to enter witness protection with his colorful family.

With such a rich resume, it's all but impossible to narrow down De Niro's work to our usual Top 10 list. So we're not going to even try. Instead, this week we look back at the 20 best films De Niro has been a part of, ranging from early efforts like 1900 all the way to last year's Silver Linings Playbook.

"...so here come two words for you: Shut the fuck up."

My favorite line from the underrated movie.
