I really wish Portland would pick one person and sing the anthem at most every game, like they do in other cities like Chicago. We need our own Jim Cornelison or Rene Rancourt

This is something I really want to do. I've tried three times, but never made it. It will happen one of these years.

With the judges being half naked dancers and a guy on a computer "spinning"; it sounds like they are looking for performers, not singers.

Hopefully, Roseanne Barr gives it another shot.

That's the feeling I've always gotten from the process, and from the performers I've seen at games I attend. It sucks, because I think the national anthem deserves a dignified and respectful performance, but instead people make every effort to "make it their own" and end up (in my opinion) ruining it.

I may not be selected, but I won't sell out to make it.

    I feel like singing!

I'm going out on the sidewalk right now to sing for everyone passing by.

Agreed. I really enjoy the anthems were the crowd sings along (mostly in Canada), but I really like it how they usually the same singer. It would have more meaning, and imho, emotion behind it if it was just one person or maybe a group of 2 or 3 singers, and OCCASIONALLY have a guest singer. Half the time the guests aren't very good anyways.

I remember going to a game once where they had someone playing a saxophone (like the kind Kenny G used), and it was ok. He fluctuated the note at the end and the crowd "aaaaaa-owwww!" like they always do..But then about 3 weeks later, I was at another agme and he was doing it again and did the same routine at the end. It kind of ruined it since he didn't change anything and this performance was worse.

Sorry, but I make Rosanne sound like Leontyne Price by comparison.

You should do a drum version of the national anthem.

I'm not sure that would reach the people, but I do a nice job of the Rick Moranis version.
