    Is it worth it?

The New York Yankees once again will be footing the highest luxury tax bill in baseball, this year at $29.1 million.

As reported by USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the luxury tax penalty is higher than the entire Houston Astros' payroll, which is just over $21 million, according to ESpn.com

What's bullshit is the last sentence...more than the astros payroll. This also was the case for that great minor league system the rays have. All paid for by Yankee dollars.

Agreed... If there is going to be a hard cap or a a tax for going over a soft cap, there also should be a lower threshold also with a penalty for going under...

yeah... and as much as I hate the union... I don't know why they wouldn't agree to the lower threshold (with penalty if below it)... if they wouldn't go for that they are more stupid than I thought!

For the Yankees sake..I wish MLB would put a true price tag on players. Based upon their productivity on Offense and Defense. The Yankees have a shit ton of players they over paid for or the players aren't earning their money. Then we wouldn't be hit with this tax for sure this year! In fact I think our true payroll would be less than that of the Astros ha ha

Okay that was wishful thinking. :)

Owners won't agree to a floor without having a hard cap like nhl and nfl

I thought that's what you were referring to. Without the floor, guys like Jeffrey Loria exist.
