Brandon Rush To Bulls? (Rumor) 7:37 PM ET 09.14 | So word on the street is that the Utah Jazz will eventually trade Brandon Rush to the Chicago Bulls. Rush is a good defender in his own right. He is also a very good shooter at 41 percent for his career at 3 point range. He's in his final year of his contract and it's only at $4 million. It's a low risk, high reward thing. If Rush plays well with the Jazz or the Bulls, he's up for a decent raise. - See more at: http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/400433 On twitter this morning a Bulls fan said hoopshype has this rumor as well. Who do we trade?
Nice pickup for you guys. Believe it or not he, was projected as the Warriors true 6th man going into last season, not Jack or Landry. Hes a solid defender, good athlete, and really good spot up 3 pt shooter. But he can score in other ways as well. Not sure how much his athleticism will be affected by this latest injury, but he was supposed to be a top 5-6 player on GSW last year.
Hinrich for Rush works in a trade straight up. That makes some sense for Utah. Right now their starting point is presumably Trey Burke, a rookie, with backups JLIII and some dude named Jerel McNeal. Hinrich would take some pressure off Burke and they'd still have a player who could play the two. Utah looks really light on veteran leadership anyway. I like the idea in theory for the Bulls because well . . . Hinrich is going to be injured most of the season anyway.
Another possibility is that the Rush would be coming in to play shooting guard if Luol Deng is traded (Jimmy sliding back to the three.)
Interesting thesis. If Deng isn't going to re-sign with us, why wouldn't we start Jimmy at SF anyway? We have at least Dunleavy to play SG. Do the Bulls owe Deng a chance to earn a big payday with a competitor? I think you could reasonably argue Butler rightly should start if Deng were to sue.
Also, I like JL III as my starting PG. if they're tanking for a good draft pick, play the hell out of <10 PER Hinrich by all means.
That's part of what might make Hinrich attractive to Utah. He's a vet who still has some game left but, with the amount he's injured, he's not going to make any meaningful impact on team record. He's really not good enough to do that anyway. Utah would get a nice mentor for Trey Burke without any interference in their taking plans.
