Hughes and Joba are obviously on everyone's list. I'm sure Hughes will most likely catch on as a starter in the NL. Joba might be out of the league unless there's somebody stupid and desperate out there. The following players can please be gone as well. Kuroda: He gave all he had but hit a wall this season. Age clearly caught up to him so it's time to retire or go back to Japan. Ichiro: No longer an everyday player. Really serves no purpose on this roster next year even though he's signed. I'm not sure if he has any trade value at this point but a team might want to take him on. Just not interested in watching him hit .240 or .250 next year. Stewart: Can't hit and his defense was suspect this year as well. Overbay: Wasn't supposed to be an everyday guy. Didn't do badly for being in a spot he wasn't meant for. That being said you don't resign this guy. Nunez: His bat gets hot here and there but you can't put him in the infield and he doesn't have the power numbers to go to the outfield. Wells: The guy is finished. Another guy signed for next year with no trade value at all.
As much as I agree with you we will see Ichiro next season along with Nunez, Stewart and Wells. I don't want to see them. Wells will be a platoon player along with Ichiro and if I am the Yankees if Ichiro continues to decline I would just eat the money and release him. Nunez sucks but they are stuck with him. I think 2014 is going to be a very very long year for Yankee fans.
Honestly, there are very few on this team that I do want to see again... the list I never want to see again far exceeds the list I want to see again...
