You just made two major blunders. #1 you bring in Joba in a close game. where he gives up a walk & a single to the first two batters. Then I think it was Lind due up & he's batting 400 against Joba 8-18 & #2 you let Joba pitch to him. and I called it....B O O M ! a mammoth 3 run shot to blow the game open. Joe I'm begging you, if the jobs are open in Chicago or Washington.....take it!.
If the Cubs wouldn't take Sandberg they won't take Joe and I heard today that Matt Williams is up for the Nats.
I will say this though. When is the last time you heard a word from Cashman? The guy went into hiding and to be that's gutless. That being said he also might be getting the roasting his deserves from management. We can always dream.
Now THIS! really tops it. During Girardi's press conference after the game he was asked why he went with Joba & he said, (are you ready for this shit?)..........."Because he's been throwing the ball pretty well". I kid you not. Just un-f'king-believable.
I'll be watching for that one tomorrow when I check out River Avenue. The one reason I have not subscribed to YES is because I don't want to hear the post game stuff.
Saw the game clip of Chambermaid cleaning the bases with the announcer commenting that Joe was going to have to answer a lot of questions. Watching the post game videos of comments by Girardi, Kuroda, Stewart, and Joba reminded me of the old Sue Thompson Song "Sad Movies".
Hard to believe that Joba is getting innings in late September at all. Joba and Hughes should have been gone 2 years ago.
With Cashman still running things it wouldn't surprise me if he resigns Hughes. Joba IMO is not only gone as a Yankee but I just don't see ANY team picking this POS up.
It would be smarter to get Andy back for another season and forget about Hughes. I agree with you on Joba. He's not a major league pitcher at this point. I no longer even slightly agree with the notion that it had anything to do with the way the Yankees handled him. The guy is a head case, has a bad attitude and work ethic and physically isn't the same guy as when he first came up. Perhaps somebody gives him a minor league deal or there's that one pitching coach out there that insists they can fix him.
CC, Nova and Pineda next year. I will not be excited to see what crap Cashman brings us to complete the rotation next year. Phelps is under contract so you would figure he will be in mix for a spot. I guess we shall see who they pick up.
I wouldn't count on Pineda until we have actually seen him pitch... he seems to be a dead ringer for Pavano...
