The article makes a lot of sense. It seems like there are many risks and no reward to using fingerprints.

Not sure why Al Franken is in quotes. It's not like he's dumb, he graduated cum laude at Harvard, and having different views doesn't make someone less intelligent.

What exactly has he said or done to make you laugh?

More importantly, why does it matter who said it? Would it be more relevant if Mitt Romney asked? I'm interested to know if the NSA can get someones fingerprints through the iPhone. The partisan fucking bullshit by people here is ridiculous.

SKIP THE ISSUE ALTOGETHER! IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE A LIBERAL ASKED THE QUESTION!!

Sometime it's important to ask who said it, and why (like if it's Pat Robertson saying gays do that weird thing with the ring), but in most cases it seems to be done to gloss over the issue.

Photoshopped picture aside, I stand by my question. What has he done, as a senator, that warrants dismissive responses?

One blogger said it is a photoshopped photo...but I agree, it's a fake. An easily disproved fake, but the funny thing is how so many people thought it could be real.

It's not hard to trick people into believing what they want to believe (see: Dan Rather).

Al Frankin i the standard that makes Barbara Boxer andher ilk appear normal..that being said, he does have a great point with his reasoning..I have to give him credit for raising the question.

I'm not disagreeing with what he said, in fact, I think he might right about this one, and I give him credit asking what sound like the right questions. But it's VERY difficult for me to take him seriously as a US Senator after seeing this sketch half a dozen times growing up. LINK.

    Plus, there's this scene:

Aside from the government getting your fingerprints, he also brought up several other issues which I had not thought of before. Much has to do with protecting ones identity against hackers.

Looks to me like something he'd have done on SNL. Which is the point. What is it about being a comedy writer and sometime comedian that makes him qualified as a public servant?

Is there a set of criteria that "qualifies" someone as a public servant?

It's not like he's a college drop out who decided to be a politician on a whim.

And like I said, doing something in the past (be it humorous or just kind of silly) neither disqualifies someone as a public servant NOR proves they aren't capable of being a hard worker or work in government.

I trust most of the celebs-turned-politicians more than the politicians who rose to prominence the traditional way.
