In line with the "give one an inch and they'll take a mile, old buddy Joe Maddon would like to see the Wild Card play in increased to 3 games. I never cared for the Wild card, a team should get no reward for second place but baseball adopted it so here we are. The one game play off to me end results in a wild card winner getting what they deserve, starting a division series with their number 2 starter against the team that EARNED best record.
I don't know about anyone else but aside from the Yankees I'll be rooting for the Indians in the AL & the Pirates in the NL.
The Pirates are a nice story this season, the '79 "Family " Team was a nice ball club. I like McCutchen and Walker. Bet AJ, Martin & Melancon are laughing at the Yankees right now.
Any added playoff games has to be better managed against the schedule. MLB needs to figure that out - I'm still trying to figure out how the Yankees had to play a winner-take-all Game 5 against the Orioles on Friday night, and then had to open the ALCS the next day on Saturday, and they were supposedly the home team (i.e. getting a more favorable schedule draw).
...kinda hard to schedule the future when the results of the games are not known yet...Yanx had to play a game 5 vs the O's only because they had lost 2 games to the O's that they should have won. ...it may seem unfair for a team to have to play a clinching alds game on Friday and then have to open the alcs the next day, but it can be tough on a team who conversely sweeps their league series and then has to wait 4 days or more because the other league series went 7 games and had a rainout. ...it's virtually impossible to schedule around the unknown. edit; I don't see more PS games added unless they either shorten the regular season which ain't gonna happen, or they play more scheduled double headers, which won't happen either, or begin the regular season earlier, which could be a solution...otherwise, the season would be pushed so far into late October/early November that some of the WS games would would likely be played in the snow.
