Hear Matt Williams name mentioned for that Nationals Job as well. Interesting situation with the Cubs, They passed on Sandberg, who now was hired by the Phillies. I've not heard anything on Sveum.
...you won't get many viable and/or available names, for reasons that should be obvious to everyone except those who simply like to ridicule, but have no alternate plan.
Well Washington or Soscia may be fired but I damn sure wouldn't want either one of them. Girardi makes some moves that make one wonder, but I stand pat on his great job with the bag of crap he got handed, So go on, Who ya gonna call!
Since when does a manager keep his job because the fans like him. And actually there's no proof of that. IMO from what I've heard from the fans over the year it's quite the opposite. Look, I understand all the injuries, every team has them & yes the Yankees have been killed with them this year. But seriously all you have to do is think of ALL the dumb, head scratching bone headed moves he's made this year to know that this guy just flat out sucks as a manager. And I've read from MANY of you guys here over this past year that have BLASTED Girardi for moves he's made during the year. So I'm not exactly alone here in my thinking. His stretch of using that kid Francisco was bad enough but then he not only put him near the top of the order but there were 2-3 games where he actually batted him either clean up or 5th. How Hughes managed to continue being a starter after stinking up the stadium game after game only Joe knows. His love affair with guys like Wells, Stewart & Joba has also puzzled me & most of you all season long. I could go on but why bother? As far as who to replace him, honestly I don't know, Though his team is under performing this year I'd be okay with Soscia. Or better yet I'd put a call into LaRussa. I just don't think Girardi is right for this team & going by what I've heard from several of you over the season I'm not alone in my opinion.
I think the point of the discussion on the Fan was would Girardi look to another opening instead of resigning in New York. I think the bigger question is in regards to Brian Cashman. There's something going on there. I wouldn't be shocked to hear of his firing shortly after the season ends.
exactly... Washington if available, no thanks.... Same with Soscia... If the Yankees could coax Tony La Russa out of retirement, probably, but who else is there?
probably right regarding Cashman, but again, who to replace him? and will much change with the Boss's evil spawn in control?
^^^Damon Oppenheimer has been mentioned. A few teams have asked the Yanx for permission to talk him about a GMs job...Yanx said no.
i dont mind girardi, i guess it depends on who would replace him but right now he seems like the best option.
regarding Oppenheimer... what is the general consensus on him? what has he actually done that would make him a viable candidate?
...I don't think there is a general consensus on him...he's pretty much been hidden and under the radar. Most people don't even know who he is. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/09/gm-candidate-damon-oppenheimer.html Edit; I do know that the O's and D-Backs wanted him...Angels too, I think.
