200 innings, enough said. His era is 3.23 and going up a little, great year. What do you expect, he was left out how many times because of lack of offense...
The overall numbers do not tell the true tale, he had a CY first half, but was miserable after the break, and really a big reason why NY missed this year, they needed him and CC to be decent to have a chance.
I agree Rusty. IMO I think Kuroda should have made the ASG. At the time I believe he was even leading the league in ERA. The 2nd half however was a whole different story. Both he & CC completely lost there game.
Probably a sign that the Yankees should let him go. They got very good value from him the last 2 seasons, but he will be 39 next year and this type of finish to the season post-ASB is certainly red flag for a pitcher at that age.
Yeah, I think he got tired averaging 6 and a third over 32 games while over half were quality starts (19), but... If you go to a month by month break down: April he was 4-1 (1 no decision (1 ER in 7.1)) with an ERA of 2.25 for the month while averaging about 6.0 innings a start. May he was 2-2 (1 no decision (0 ER in 7.0)) with an ERA of 2.56 for the month while averaging about 6.33 innings a start. June he was 1-3 (2 no decisions (2 ER in 6.2 and 2 ER in 8.0)) with an ERA of 3.92 for the month while averaging about 6.5 innings a start. July he was 3-0 (2 no decisions (0 ER in 7.0 and 0 ER in 7.0)) with an ERA of 0.55 for the month while averaging about 6.6 innings a start. August he was 1-4 (0 no decisions) with an ERA of 5.12 for the month while averaging about 6.33 innings a start. September he has been 0-3 (2 no decisions (2 ER in 6.0 and 4 ER in 6.1)) with an ERA of 5.70 for the month while averaging 6.0 innings a start. He should have easily won 7 of those 8 no decisions as they were 2 ER or fewer He had 1 spectacular month (July), 2 great months (April and May), 1 tolerable month (June) and 2 horrible months. Yes, his two horrible months came at the end of the season, But his best month was July (after a tolerable June). All that said, I would take him again over CC... or Hughes... It's a shame he likely won't be back next year
