There was actually a few concerted efforts to "hipsterize" detroit the last few years. From making sustainable urban farms to documentaries and the like.

Imagine this. Barrack Obama spent more money rescuing GM and Chrysler than the previous 10 President spent on the United States Navy, including all of the Nimitz class carriers. But it hasn't meant a damn thing to the City of Detroit.

Detroit elected full-blown thugs like Kwame Kirkpatrick to mayor, and he looted from his "own" people.
