I did just encounter a load problem with S2 on Chrome similar to the one you mentioned, julius. After a few moments and a few refreshes it came back.
It happened since the very first time I turned that laptop open. And it has nothing to do with the modem, because it only has issues on this website, and on chrome.
I did that before I mentioned this problem. And I clear my browser history after everytime I close down a browser.
I assure you it's not S2. You are the only one with this complaint. There are literally thousands of people using Chrome to view this site.
Well, that not exactly true. It hasn't happened to me in awhile, but I've experienced similar "hangs" with Chrome and S2 (and only S2) in the past. It's very intermittent though.
Google is notorious for updating the browser to newer version automatically. And often. I can see someone making some odd HTML in a post by accident, but that would only affect the page with that post on it. If you have a lot of apps or tabs open, your machine can swap memory to disk, which is quite slow. At ~3AM, the site is backed up and may not respond for a few minutes.
Additionally, S2 servers are located in a carrier grade facility with excellent quality bandwidth. There's no guaranty the network between your machine and the server is healthy. People link to images that originate on servers we don't control. If those servers are slow, it can affect page loading or experience. If your ISP's DNS servers are experiencing problems, IP lookups cached by your system may work fine, but any new lookups will fail after a noticeably long time out.
