So tomorrow we can go onto the federal website and price out health care? I really am not up to speed on all the changes. I already have a cheap plan at work so I assume I won't be able to save anything but I'm curious. I have friends with no insurance so for those people I know this could possibly really help them out. Please post any ideas you have of how people can save on their health care or health insurance costs. Sure many of us have reservations on a macro level how good these policies are but on an individual level everyone here should do the best to make the most of their situation.
Great thread idea. I have health insurance with my employer and probably will keep, but I'll check the Affordable Care prices and coverage and post it here to compare.
For those in Oregon, it's the state, not the federal, providing the website/exchanges. Go to coveroregon.com barfo
compare with what you have. Key features are co-pays, allowable expenses, allowable procedures, exceptions, prescription coverage, hospitalization coverage, emergency room coverage, accessibility to personal doctor. Dont let broad stroke terms fool you, Bronze is a 40 percent deductible, silver is 30%, gold is 20% and platinum is still 10%...good luck.
I'm unaffected since my company plans to keep its current healthcare offering and it's cheaper and more than adequate to meet my needs.
Yup, but reportedly they won't have the information online for the average schmuck to use until around the middle of the month. Until then you have to contact an agent.
OPB tonight was talking about that fact, also made mention of more plans coming into play. The real vampires in this whole equation are the insurance companies.
That's what this ACA was trying to address in the first place. I don't think they actually did a very good job of it though.
Not to divulge insider information but premiums will probably drop next year. The state refused to allow competitive pricing the first year and that is what drives the price down.
the entire concept is flawed. If the intent was to protect consumers, then they should have addressed the issue, not force everyone to participate.
yeah..works with gas prices... I have a hard time believing that they will give up anything..kind of like the government, when they realize an income stream, they tap it for as much as they can
That has been completely obvious to many of us from the beginning. And trying to address the insurance companies was just one of the many failed excuses for launching the ACA. It simply depended on which month, and which of the claims of the ACA had been shown to be false most recently.
But, I still think it is a step in the right direction. As far as I can tell, the Republican party did not offer any direct solution other than the aspects which were placed into the ACA, IE forced buy in and tort reform.
If you want to put it that way, yes. Seems to work fine for the rest of the civilized world. Or should I say, for the civilized world. barfo
When I say "good luck with that"; I am not saying it won't work; but your precious "liberal party" gets most of its money from pharma. They would never support this
