the short of it is that recruiting is going along at a normal pace for Oregon. The headliners in the class thus far are Cal RB Royce Freeman & Texas DB Aarion Springs. Here's a rivals link to the 8 guys who have given nonbinding verbal commitments. Oregon is in the mix for many top rated prospects and I'm very optimistic about how things will go

along with Portland DE/TE Henry Mondeaux, two guys rivals has ranked the #157 & #64 overall prospects will be at the Cal game... Florida RB Tony James and Fresno WR/DB Michiah Quick

Where the Ducks finish this year, beating UW for some recruits, winning a national championship for others, whether Marcus comes back for his junior year or Manziel does will be key in many decisions I think. I suspect Baker, McGraw, Plattenburg, Mixon and such will wait and see how it all unfolds. That said outside of Royce, that big man who just Olined to Bama and Quin Blanding and of course Peppers this years class has a ton of hit or misses in it. Last years class seemed a bit more stout to me.

Oh well. We have WR depth already. And I'm surprised with Baker, he should take an official to get a feel of Oregon@gameday.

Oregon has brought in a large % of their top prospects after the season for years now. Chip stated that was his preferred time to bring guys in as he could actually spend time with them. You always hear kids site relationship with the coaches as a main reason they chose the school they did, so it seems like a good strategy to continue.

Great news! So awesome we could pluck him right out of the Gators backyard. I read that he fits the system well, why does he fit the system well? Is he a good East/West runner?

He looks like a slighter faster version of LMJ. I think LMJ being in Autzen last night helped this decision to be made all that much easier for this kid!

We are probably done at rb, so no mixon unless he really wants to go to oregon and grabs one of the reciever or that elusive TE spot. Both unlikely.
Quick almost as expected didnt make the game, we should just never mention him again.

Sounds like Quick is more in love with himself than football.... He'll be a great Texas A$M recruit.

So, whats the next OVs gonna be? Also, there was an articale on Rivals about USC targeting Sumlin for their head coach, that right?

McGraw still bouncing around a bit

We've apparently taken the lead for consensus 3 star dual-threat QB Randall Cunningham II

Though we haven't offered him for football yet, he is highly interested in track and if he did get an offer it would be as athlete with QB being unlikely (both because of current depth and track means you can't add the weight you need)

247 seems to be jumping on the early predictions to Oregon like crazy, (see DT Hampton who they now believe the staff has moved on from but haven't edited their predictons) (TE Knight who doesn't have an offer, and may not get one IMO,) then all these early Cunningham predictions.

Oregon also hasn't so much as lost ground with Baker as Washington's success has helped them gain ground. If they end up 7-5 again that may help us. Though we would need to make a BCS bowl again to stay strong.

Randall could get in as a DB or WR/TE possibly. Personally, I wanna see him play QB at Baylor though.

McGraw's comments have me nervous a bit. They all have UCLA high on their lists. Imagine the Bruins getting 3 SEC priemer recruits! Talk about about amazing!

Alfonzo Hampton not coming to us? What changed his mind?

his interest in Oregon seemed real back when they were scouting him. Maybe they still are scouting him or maybe they've decided to pass on him, but rivals doesn't list him as having an offer from Oregon or anyone else yet.

If I were a recruit, I'd read the tea leaves a bit more before jumping on the UCLA or UW train. At least until the USC coaching mega event has been determined. Could Sark leave for the job he was supposed to have at USC? Will a high profile coach for sure be the next USC shot caller? If yes to either of those questions and sanctions coming to an end, USC will be back in under two years and UCLA will take its normal position in the Pac- south.

As for McGraw, Baker and Mixon, I'm not sold. Their egos are huge for sure! King McGraw for a three star? Kid please! Oregon wants the right player, not egos that wont work in our system. UCLA is working very hard to prove to the state of California that the little sister is all grown up! Problem is, Christy Turlington "USC" will always be your older sister.

The 2014 class I think will be more ruff than diamonds.

Shame really. Hampton has a great physical build and has great upside.

I think USC might grab either Sumlin or James Franklin from Vanderbilt. They want young guys who happen to have made big changes. Plus, they won in the SEC and can recruit there. Carroll did the same and he was dominate(when he left, SEC streak started. Coincidence?). Plus, Sumlin has groomed NFL talent at TAMU(the 2 tackles, Johnny, Mike Evans, Everret to name a few). Plus, Sumlin can hit Texas as well.

How are those guys have big egos? What players you think and surefire diamonds then?

re: McGraw.. the dude is a 5.7 Rivals Rating which is basically a 4* (5.8 is 4*) and I would venture to guess will be bumped up soon. Some of the offers he holds are from schools you may have heard of... Alabama, Florida State, Oregon, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, USC (Those were the upper echelon. He seems to have about 15 more offers alone just listed on Rivals.

Re: Baker, I havent heard anything that would insinuate he would have any higher of an ego than most highly recruited kids. (Every highly recruited kid has an ego, but some higher than others, and I havent read anything to put Baker in the higher list)

So let's start being concerned. If USC hires a coach, which coach do you fear the most? Franklin? Sumlin? Some NFL guy?

Or god forbid Nick Saban comes to hollywood?

    what, me worry?

Oregon was pounding USC back when Pete Carroll was still there. I'm hoping they hire someone good that elevates their program as it will only add to the Pac 12's prestige and Oregon's rankings when the Ducks crush them again
