Meyers could benefit from that kind of camaraderie. I remember him saying that he wanted a mentor that he could connect with and I'm hoping that he and Lopez can build that together. Their skill set would complement each other well.
It also sounded like last season Meyers didn't have any friends on the team. And while that sounds bleeding heart liberal, if he is feeling depressed as a 20 y.o. off the court, that's going to bleed over into his energy level on the court. However now the two giant nerds seem to get along as weirdo goofballs. =]
What makes you think that? I always got the opposite impression when I would hear other Blazers mention him. Did his brother live with him last year?
They put one of your's in the hospital, you put one of their's in the morgue. That's the big man code.
I thought I heard bits and pieces saying that. HCP, do you have any knowledge on the subject? I thought his brother was still enlisted last year.
I also got the impression Leonard wasn't really close to anyone on the team. Not polarizing, but not really hanging out much with anyone on the team. (Again just a perspective from a fan.) It would be great if Lopez and Meyers became buddies.
i was watching a recent episode of NBA rooks on NBATV the other day. they were doing a special on damian and he said Meyers was his best friends on the team...take that for what its worth..
I'm hoping Leonard learns toughness when he has the ball in his hands. He's fine when he goes for rebounds but put the ball in his hands and he turns into a little girl.
The only time I want to see the ball in his hands is when he sets a pick then rolls, or when he passes to the wing to go set a down pick.
