This deserves it's own thread... unfortunately. Trail Blazers PR @TrailBlazersPR 2m X-ray's confirm Portland G CJ McCollum sustained a fractured 5th metatarsal bone in his left foot at practice on Saturday at the PF. Trail Blazers PR @TrailBlazersPR 1m A date for surgery has not been determined. Prognosis for his return will be made post surgery.
Casey Holdahl @CHold 3m The fifth metatarsal of the left foot is same bone McCollum broke during his senior year at Lehigh, not sure if that impacts return timeline
Damn man! Was really looking forward to watching this kid! Will Barton is pumped I'm sure! Sent from my baller ass iPhone 5 FAMS!
On the one hand: this is really shitty. On the other: this is one position where we have depth. He probably wasn't going to get that many minutes to begin with anyway.
Dwight Jaynes @dwightjaynes 4m Fifth metatarsal is a slow healer very often. Blood flow in that area isn't great.
Here's a thought - just a thought. Maybe we shouldn't keep drafting players who've had their college careers seriously impacted with injury?
TUALATIN – The Portland Trail Blazers announced that rookie guard CJ McCollum will require surgery after fracturing the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot. The injury occurred during Saturday's practice when McCollum was attempting to set a screen at the practice facility. A prognosis for his return will be made after surgery. This is the same left foot that McCollum broke during his senior season at Lehigh University that caused him to miss the rest of that year. McCollum, 22, was taken No. 10 in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Trail Blazers. From all accounts, he was having a sensational training camp after strong showings in involuntary workouts. He was expected to compete with Wesley Matthews for two-guard minutes. This definitely comes as a huge blow for the Trail Blazers. http://www.csnnw.com/blazers/cj-mccollum-will-have-surgery-left-foot-return-unknown
Meyers Leonard @MeyersLeonard11 Praying for a speedy recovery for @CJMcCollum ..Tough to have something like this happen to him. Such a good kid. He'll be back though.
