Twitter is a buzz! The game has playoff feel to it. Amazing for the first exhibition game of the year.

Deng opens the preseason in his contract year going 4-16. Almost a shot a minute!

Starters except for Rose were pretty bad.

Taj lit up their 2nd and 3rd stringers and basically won the game for us.

If Jimmy is going to step it up, he's the one who should have taken 16 shots.

I was hoping Snell would look like a capable contributor. He didn't.

    Murphy did look good.

    Taj 18 pts 12 boards 3 blocks 1 assist.

    Noah DNP

Murphy played with heart. Hitting the floor for loose balls, had 4 boards!! Three pts. I was surprised they never had him on the outside as much as I thought they would.

    Snell's shot was not falling.

Boozer, cruised through the motions. Disinterested 2 pts 7 boards. Wow.

Rose is still fast. Some rust. He is going to be fine.

    Hinrich looked decent! Shocked! ;)

    Nazr had 3 blocks.

Deng 15 and 8. Had 11 in the first half.

    Dunleavy was hoe-hum.

Glad to see Teague hit a 3.

    Next up, Memphis on Monday.

    Basketball is back.

    Great game.

-- Derrick Rose is going to be just fine. Huzz-mother fucking-zah!

-- Agree about Erik Murphy. He's going to have a long NBA career. I didn't realize how athletic he is -- probably that latent reverse racism thing where white players look slower than players of color. Murphy's a quick jumper. Gar Forman may be the best GM at drafting in the league. When do you ever find a bigman at 49 who can come in and play immediately?

-- The Bulls seem to have a solid rotation at center (Noah, Gibson, Naz) and power forward (Boozer, Murphy, Gibson). Gibson looked like he's much more comfortable playing center than he was in the past, and I think there's a not unsubstantial chance that center ends up being his better position this season. I like how he matches up at that position.

-- I recognize that Hinrich had a good game, but I really have a distaste for the way he plays. The Bulls have had other guys who dribble almost as much as Hinrich in Nate Robinson and JL III. But both of those guys were always heavy usage players who were looking to score. When Hinrich over dribbles he's basically running down the clock and forcing bench player to take bail out shots.

-- Agree with you Denny that Butler has to pull the trigger more. He had a bunch of open jumpers that he passed up.

-- Thibs looks like he's going to give Snell minutes instead of moving Hinrich to to the 2 and playing Teague. Marquis looked completely flummoxed by the speed of the game. Snell also looked not ready for primetime.

-- George has a beautiful game. He reminds me of Tmac back in the day.

-- I think this team projects to be a better playoff team than all of the other Rose-era teams. We'll see how injuries impact the roster.

-- Did I mention Rose is going to be fine. :ghoti::cheers::pimp:

Derrick Rose returns in exhibition opener

The Eastern Conference became a lot more interesting after Derrick Rose's successful return to the Chicago Bulls.

The former MVP scored 13 points in 20 minutes in an 82-76 exhibition victory over the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night.

"Same old Derrick Rose," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said. "He looked great."

Rose led the Bulls to the No. 1 seed in the East two seasons ago before he tore his left ACL during the playoffs, then missed all of last season while recovering. He said he had some nerves Saturday that quickly went away.

"I felt great," Rose said. "I felt normal, I felt the way I've been playing in practice. I'm just trying to get my timing back."

He was at his lightning-fast best against the Pacers in the preseason opener for both teams, breaking away for several layups and converting a steal and dunk in the third quarter. He appeared unafraid of contact, constantly challenging Indiana's large front line.

"That's the way he played before the injury, and he's back to playing like that," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "And for him, that's his game. The speed, the quickness, the power to go along with it -- that's what makes him so special and unique. There's no one like him."
