Kareem Abdul-Jabbar criticized the basketball IQ of Dwight Howard during a television appearance. "Dwight is an extraordinary athlete and has incredible athletic ability, but basketball is a game where the most important muscle that you use on the court is the one between your ears," said Abdul-Jabbar. "Dwight's basketball IQ is not up to speed for him to be a dominant player." Howard quickly responded to the remarks. "You can't win three Defensive Player of the Year trophies and be stupid. That can't be done," said Howard. "And I don't think any coach that has ever coached me has said I have a low IQ for basketball. "Have I done some dumb stuff on the floor? Yes, every player has. Have I done some stupid things in life? Yes, it's life. We make mistakes and learn from them. It is what it is. I think I am very intelligent when it comes to the game of basketball. I have been playing since I was 3 years old. Each year, I get a little smarter. "People will have something to say. Is what it is. I'm in (Houston) now. This city has my back and we are going to ride together."
Show a little respect. Some people are confused as to whether they are smart or dumb. Dwight self identifies as a smart person. If he dresses like a smart person, does his best to do smart things and wants to be called a smart person, who does it hurt? Go Blazers
LakerVille controls public opinion across the NBA. You cross the Lakers and ooooh, it's a woman spurned.
If he was smart, he would have become the superstar that is expected of him. He doesn't have the Bball iq and attitude needed to carry a team to the promise land. He seems to fold under pressure. But hey, if he thinks he's smart; then all the power to him. We will see if the move he made will pay off. I personally don't think it will.
Is winning really that important? I mean, half of the players have their feelings hurt every game when you keep score. If they didn't keep score everyone is a winner. They could all self-identify as winners, and that makes them ALL winners. win win, baby! Go Blazers
Well I guess everyone that makes it to the nba is a winner. Forget my pissy attitude about Howard. I'm just not a fan of primadonna types.
hes pretty smart at defense and how to deal with double teams, you dont get that impactful at both ends without being someone knowledgeable
