Many of you know about her, but a quick synopsis for those who don't. Malala Yousafzai is a 16 year old girl who, starting at around 11 years old became an activist for education, specifically the right for women to be educated in Pakistan, writing a blog that was published on BBC. Since then she spoke out more until in 2012 the Taliban shot her in the head and neck. She lived, is doing well, and wrote a book "I Am Malala". Her name has become a rallying cry for those supporting women, education, and progress in Pakistan and many other places the world over. She has been nominated for the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize. Here is a John Stewart interview of Malala, take a gander at how awesome a human can be. Also shows just how oppressed people are there by the same people we hate, the terrorists, taliban and other extremist Muslim groups. It's why we should keep in mind that there is a difference between the extremists and the rest of the society over there.
Not that I know of. I'm not sure if it's been decided yet, I know some of the Prizes have been announced. Either way, with what she has gone through, how wonderful a spokesperson she is, and the aid her charity malalafund.org has raised so far for helping the education effort in impovererished or war torn nations, and considering how young she still it, I wouldn't be surprised to see her win the Prize another year.
There was no purpose to the post other than to annoy. Nothing witty, interesting, intelligent, original, thought provoking or in any way adding to the conversation. The poster was so quick to assume that he missed the fact that she also just showed up Pres Obama and made him look like her bitch. But, at least he posts a lot.
I know of her and watched her with JS. The media machine will steal her freedom in a more insidious way than the taliban tried.
Your whole post is about Islam being a peaceful religion, isn't it? I guess if I want to be witty, intelligent, interesting, etc., I need to watch John Stewart more, you know, to keep up with world events. Either that or I can retweet George Takaei memes.
