    the comparison was that for years, that argument was made. But now it appears foolish for anyone to say it, right?

    Now, granted the pictures you posted a while ago of a trip you made (I assume it was you? maybe it was someone else) showed you with, iirc, a woman who looked to be of a different race than yourself.

    How would you feel if someone said that your relationship/marriage shouldn't be allowed because people abhorred it?

    Thing is, a lot of the people on this planet are both ignorant and uneducated. I don't consider what a lot of them think to be important.

    Shooter, you do realize that just because all those cultures and people disapprove of gay people doesn't make those people go away, right? It also doesn't remove their humanity. You can argue the "perversion" of our language and culture all you want, but what is or is not perverse is subjective. You're essentially arguing mob rule because you agree with the mob.

    I'd bet it's just as common as homosexuality, actually. I personally know at least four women who were abused by fathers, uncles, or brothers. It gets hushed up a lot because of the shame.

    You're making straw man arguments. I never said homosexuals weren't human. I would actually go for civil unions. That makes sense, whereas marriage does not. As for "mob rule," if I say murder is wrong because every culture has said so, is that arguing mob rule--or is it agreeing with what all cultures say is healthy for a society?

    "Thousands of years of understanding of what makes a healthy society" includes things like slavery and wars of conquest. We live in modern times and our values have been changing. Society isn't going to crash because people who have been traditionally been though of as "icky" at best and "possessed by Satan" at worst are getting married.

    That wasn't your criteria. You said that "attraction" between family members was a sickness, regardless of whether or not they were consenting adults. But I actually see no reason why incest between consenting adults won't become more common as we head down this road we're on. Incest between consenting adults was prevalent in the last days of the Roman Empire.

    You were comparing homosexuality/marriage of the gays, with incest. Incest between two consenting adults (I personally don't care about), isn't the same as two consenting adults of the same sex, getting married.
