I'm guessing that this is really good news in that the bone didn't break around the previously inserted screw.

Another Blazers top rookie on crutches with a big smile on his face. We've seen this before.

Most assumed that CJ McCollum would undergo surgery after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his left foot during training camp, but sounds like that won’t be the case. According to the update McCollum is undergoing a non-surgical procedure to mend the bone he broke the first time back in January at Lehigh. From the press release …
Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum will undergo a non-operative ultrasound procedure on Wednesday to repair the fifth metatarsal fracture in his left foot. The procedure, which is designed to stimulate bone growth, will be performed at the OrthoCarolina Foot and Ankle Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina by Dr. Robert Anderson.
According to reports, Dr. Anderson is one of the leaders in the field of athlete foot injuries and has worked with the likes Golden State’s Stephen Curry, Houston Texan Matt Schaub and Indianapolis Colts running back Ahmad Brandshaw. According to WCNC.com, Anderson performed reconstructive surgery on Curry’s ankle in 2011. Curry is from the Charlotte area.

I'm not saying anything about CJ's ability to play. It just baffles my as to why the Blazers would draft another injury prone player coming out of college. First it was Roy then it was Oden then it was Williams and now it's CJ.

Then it was lillard and now it's CJ.

So we shouldn't have drafted Lillard?

Injury prone player? Guy broke his foot. Its not like he has chronic knee injuries or has bad hamstrings. A broken bone is always a freak accident and is almost always 100% recovery rate with no real long term detriment as long as the bone didn't damage any tendons or ligaments on the break.

He missed his Junior year with almost the exact same injury as CJ.

Foot injury caused him to miss all but the first 9 games of the 2010-11 season.
