Re: Preseason Game #04 - Bulls vs Wizards oops, I thought this was the Wizards thread. I will change the title Bulls lead 24-16 after 1.

It's hard not to be ecstatic about our preseason so far. Rose is in MVP form, our defense looks as good as its ever been, Jimmy looks like he's made the leap to a legit 2-way SG, and Taj seems to have undergone a transformation. It's business as usual for our other guys. You get the sense the team is very "dialed in" and they're gunning for a championship. Lots of focus, tight execution, and everyone's sharing the ball very well. My biggest question so far concerns the identity of our bench. Unlike previous 2nd squads, this one looks to be passive and roles aren't cut out yet. Kirk, Dunleavy and Taj will be the cornerstones, but where do Snell, Murphy and Teague fit in? It seems like we'll have a bench mob by committee with our 9th and 10th spots filled by whoever is more appropriate based on the situation.
Winning is awesome. Jimmy didn't play last game. But Noah did. Last two games have been against teams that were pretty awful last season. Hard to judge our 2nd team against theirs in terms of our ability to win in the regular season. Against the Wizards, our starters played about 1/2 the game and had 14 turnovers. 7 between Lu and Jimmy combined; I'd keep an eye on this. Deron Williams has missed all 4 of the Nets' pre-season games. They're 3-1 against soft competition, with Shaun Livingston at PG. The Pacers are 0-4 in preseason. I don't think that reflects how well they'll do in the regular season
Of course none of the reason any of us are pumped has anything to do with the record. Rose is healthy. That's really all it takes. But there's also the starting lineup, which is the strongest it's been since Jordan, and a bench which, if not quite as good as Asik's second year, is at least very interesting. I want to see what happens with Taj, Teague, Murphy, Dunleavy and Snell. There's more uncertainty, higher ceilings, and more moving parts. This is going to be a great season to be a Bulls fan. As to the game, I was relieved to see Teague make a number of nice plays. I had my confidence in him shaken a little, I think, by some posters at RealGM. He has the skills; he just needs experience.
Derrick Rose scores 22 points in return to United Center im with "MVP! MVP!" chants. In many ways, it seemed like he'd never been gone. Rose scored 22 points in his long-awaited return to the United Center court to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 96-81 preseason victory over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night. Teague had a good 4th quarter. I am encourage by that. Snell showed up! They guy can shoot! We have a strong team and I cannot wait for the season to begin. Detroit may not make the playoffs if they settle for jumpers all of the time.
Same starting lineup as the one that lost the ECF to the Heat. Except Jimmy instead of Brewer. Noah's better, but I think Deng and Boozer dropped a bit. Korver replaced by Dunleavy. Bogans replaced by Kirk Omer replaced by Nazr CJ by... Mike James? Rose needs to be even better than his MVP season, IMO.
