Vs UCLA , @ Stanford, vs Utah, @ Arizona, vs Oregon State.

That's 5 winning PAC 12 teams in a row. Utah is the weak link, and they toppled Stanford. If the Ducks make it through this gauntlet, they will be fully vetted and worthy of natty.

Plus the PAC12 championship, if we make it.

Instead of reading quotes that the Defensive Coordinator is not happy about his defense or rates it a C+. I'd like to see him do something about it. Defensively they need to improve. And right now, I would put both Florida State and Alabama ahead of them due to this very reason.

To be fair, any points scored in the 4th were against the scrubs, and at least one TD came off a Mariota TO.

They scored 38 for the game. 14 points came in the 4th, and since I don't count those against our starters, that brings it down to 24. Then you subtract the 7 points that Mariota gave up on that fumble. That brings us down to 17. Another 3 were off a field goal from that first Mariota fumble, so the defense held in a shitty situation and didn't give up the TD. If you subtract that, it's down to 14.

So really only 14 points were given up by the starters. That's not bad at all. 62-14 is much closer to the line that we were expecting in this game.

I see us winning out IF we play Oregon ball and execute.

In previous years, the above sentiment was, I think we win IF we get the breaks.

This team doesn't need breaks. It needs to play Oregon ball. If they do that, we will be celebrating in Pasadena.

To beat us a team has to be able to do 2 things very very well- run effectively both between the tackles and around them so as to play keep away with the ball, and, play physical and fast defense. The only team on that list is Stanford. I say the other games will be definite wins but Stanford is still the key to the Natty.

I think if a team can stop the run, it will put us in a bind. That's essentially what Stanford did last season, and we never really adjusted. This year, we need to use our speedy receivers and open up the field a bit before we run the ball down their throats.

I agree with the other post. Now that Marshall and Tyner are showing that they can carry the load, I think we should move DAT back to WR where he flourished two seasons ago. Move DAT around to get him open more and let the two bash brothers ram the ball down Stanford's throat.

We can beat you. I'm convinced of that now. I'm not saying we will, but we can. This is the best OSU team since 2000.

    I think you're nuts.

This is OSU's worst defense in 20 years. The running game is weak. Granted the passing game is A+ but that isn't going to get it done.

Best OSU team in 13 years? No way....

Your offense is one dimensional. Your defense is suspect and you are one injury away from self-destruction. Have you even played a ranked opponent and did you allow Utah to score 48 and San Diego State 30?

OSU loses 4 of their last 5 games.

tlong is all puffed up because they just blew out a team that's 1-6.

Congrats tlong. You have beaten teams that are:

    1-6
    4-4
    3-3
    3-3
    4-3
    0-6

And you lost to Eastern Washington.

Not a single ranked opponent. Your opponents are a combined 15 wins and 25 losses.

Best team since 2000? If that's true, that's pretty fucking sad.

After that opening loss I'd be pretty excited too if I were a Beaver fan. No shame in being excited about the team.

Sorry to hijack a duck thread...but....

    Tlong...lol

Best offensive team since 2000. Still don't think I've seen a worse defense since becoming a beaver fan in 2003.

Down the stretch, 2-3 is realistic, 3-2 would be awesome

And the Ducks best opponent is 1-3 in the conference. Both team have had very easy schedules so far. That will change every week going forward.

I've never seen a college passing game as good as this years Beavs and the defense is making improvements to become average. We were supposed to have one of the best offensive lines in the conference but have been missing 4 offensive linemen. To start the year none of our defensive tackles could qualify academically and we had inexperienced corners. OSU runs complicated pro style systems. Its not like the Ducks where you give a bunch of athletes the ball quickly and let them run around really fast. Our systems take years to learn. QB's never have success their first year but flourish once they finally figure it out. When you play lesser opponents like Eastern Washington you are supposed to beat them up in the trenches. Well with major holes on both lines that just wasn’t easy and the close game went against them. The staff has since done a great job of structuring an offense and defense that utilize the strengths the team does have.

Will my Beavs keep it up? I don't know, but I feel like we are on house money for this game with Stanford and we won’t be underdogs against anyone else up to the civil war. If we can win the Stanford game this team could contend for the conference. But we are now bowl eligible and that is a great place to be there are dozens of top programs every year that can’t even make a bowl game. Even if we lose out it won’t be a bad season. Bad is 20 years without a bowl game.

This is definitely the best Beavers team I've seen since 2000. We've had better defenses, but this passing game is amazing. We can outscore anybody. Mannion and Cooks are just ridiculously good.

Please note we've not played with DAT for 3 weeks, and Colt has left the team and we're still blowing teams away, could the Beavs be successful without Cooks playing? Before you answer in a "Beaver Way" think is Cooks on the level of talent that DAT displays? Luckily for the Beavs we'll get to display that match up head to head in Autzen very soon.

Hell I think Cooks is better than DAT. He's the best wide-out we've ever had.

DAT has never produced at the level Cooks has this year. Cooks was one of the best receivers in the conference last year but he’s improved tremendously. He has more yards and TD’s than any WR or RB in the nation. The Beavs would have multiple losses without Cooks. He is much more important to the Beavs than DAT is to the Ducks. DAT adds an extra dimension to that UofO team but he’s more like a Darren Sproles matchup problem than a guy who you build an offense around.

UofO is deep and has multiple great options. The Beavs just don’t have that depth. Now there is only one ball on the field so if everyone is healthy for UofO that depth isn’t as beneficial. If the Beavs are relatively healthy they have NFL prospects on both sides of the ball. Crichton is the best defender on either Oregon school. But OSU doesn't have stud backups. If Cooks doesn’t get hurt and the rest of the receivers continue to punish defense for cheating the Beavers passing game could give any opponent in the country problems.
