I think for now people need to lay off the bashing of Torts, so far the style he forced this team to play was more in sync with the talent they have on hand. And yes I know Nash isn't playing again (IMO he has been a huge disappointment for the Rangers ever since near the end of last season and through out the playoffs) and no Callahan and Hagelin (meh, the Penguins lose Crosby and they still kick ass and take names later). I know it is early and I actually thing AV is a very good coach but right now this is looking like a disaster in the making. Who knows when Nash will be back and for how long, what is this his 3rd concussion in the past 2+ seasons? BTW I am rooting for Gaborik too, but he is not blameless for what happened here during his time as a Ranger, the guy would have 1 great game and then totally disappear for weeks on end.
I'm not. Gabby played with no heart a lot of games when teams were physical on him. Torts got this team 2 games from the finals. His style to me wasn't going to get us the cup. It just didn't score enough goals. However, Torts did develop McDonagh, Stepan, and a few other guys an awful lot. The team was not a joke with him as coach. Sometimes, you need a different voice. They needed a more offensive coach. Problem is that 3 of the teams best offensive players are not playing right now.
