Do you think Lillard deserves 50 mil?

If he'd take it (moot, he's not allowed to) I'd offer him a 4/50M extension to his contract right now. He's not going to get any cheaper.

Given the market, I'd be very surprised if Dame doesn't get close to the max.

John Wall got a max deal. I will be surprised if DL does not get one as well.

The only way white people are supposed to make this type of money is when they own a Fortune 500 company

Here's one of the things I like about what Neal Olshey did this off season. He absolutely stole Mo Williams and Dorell Wright. I know Hayward is 5 years younger, but Olshey signed Wright for 2 years at $3 million per year. I know Utah's offer to Hayward is based on potential, but it's only 4 years and if he does break out, he will be free to go elsewhere just as he is entering his prime.

If you look at their advanced stats, they are VERY close. Hayward has a slightly higher PER, but Wright has a slightly higher WS/48. Advanced shooting stats are close (even though it as a down year for Wright), but Wright is a better defender and much better rebounder.

Right now, I'd much rather have Wright at $3 million/year than Hayward at $12.5 million per year. And, since Wright will only be 29 when his contract expires, it's not like he's going to decline rapidly and be over the hill by then. Hayward may very well put up much better raw numbers the next two seasons, but it will be because he's the best player on a really crappy team. Wright will be a back-up on a winning team, but will probably continue to have comparable advanced stats to Hayward.

And, if Batum is injured or traded, Wright can easily step into the starting role where he will be an even bigger bargain.

That's what I always said about Pritchard. Instead of waiting for years for the cake to bake, we could get cheap old guys like Juwan Howard who were already baked. And cheaper than those crispy young know-nothings.

Wow that is going way out on a limb. I think you drastically underestimate the impact Heyward has on the floor. I'm sure you can throw stats to show they are somehow equally effective on the floor, but they aren't.

Olshey may have stole Wright because 2 other teams were pursuing him, but it's not like Wright took less to come to Ptd. I think the Blazers got him at his market rate. Wright may be a good deal and Heyward may be a bad deal (I don't think so), but I don't see the two players even being close to comparable (IMO)

Apparently, Gordon Hayward and Dorell Wright have conspired to make me look like an idiot. Still, I didn't notice anyone bumping this thread in November and December when Hayward was shooting .397 FG% and .281 3FG%. And, even after last night's career best performance and three good games in January, he's only shooting .415 FG% and .317 3FG% on the season and his team is in last place. Still, I'm grateful he decided to have the best game of his career in a win over OKC.
