    Yeah, but Faried and Drummond are too similar. Energy guys, defensive players, good rebounders, etc. Monroe/drummond is actually a pretty good tandem. Not sure why Detroit would shop him, but I thought I remembered seeing something about him being on the block.

    What does Hickson's Blazer performance have to do with my saying he's at least as effective as Faried, as proven by the fact that he's taken his job? You like to play "straw man," as Mags inaccurately calls it.

    Because stats say otherwise. He had always been a very poor defender dating back to his cleveland days and as good of a rebounder as he is teams rebound better with him off the floor.
    Faried and Hickson are very similair but Faried is a better defender

    Need Favors, the elite rebounder, not Faried.

    Favors is young and loaded with potential. Faried is...well, Faried.

    there's a difference, I think, in being a below-average defender due to being a young player and not picking up team principles and concepts, and in being below-average due to low motor, low athleticism, and low effectiveness.

    Kid is athletic, has a high motor, is an elite rebounder, gets blocks, gets steals and plays decently enough in a team concept. I don't know that you can say "Bad" defender.

    Also bad. Thing is, it's not good to just use DRtg to say look, he's better. They were comparable compared to their team. And it's definitely a team influenced stat. If you want to use DRtg to show anything, then you'd also have to accept that Hickson was our best defender last season.

    According to synergy, Faried gave up .95 points per possession. Which was good for 380th in the league. Hickson was at .94.
