I have his phone number. And here is how I got it... I looked at the email address he used when he first signed up at S2. His email address was his real name @former employer . com. From there I was able google his name and find his phone number. I want to call him because I'm worried about him and while it's okay for me as staff to look up accounts I'm not sure if it's cool to do anything with that information outside of the forum. Members should have a reasonable expectation of privacy. Would calling him be violating that expectation? Also what the hell would I say? What if his family answers the phone? It could come off as rather stalkerish and creepy. "Hi, I know him as Mediocre Man at this basketball forum and I was wondering if you would tell me how he is." "Click." What do you guys think?
I think calling him is a good idea. I know it sounds stalkerish, but it's in good faith. I mean, most of us in here are deeply concerned, and we just want to know one way or another. I don't see anything wrong. And besides I would really want to know where to send "get well soon flowers".
