Probably the best base scenario. Mo and Wright needs to find their place as the reserves. Sliding to starting spots can disrupt the flow of Stotts's game plan
A-fib can be a nothing, or it can be a big deal. They might shock his heart back into a regular rhythm, or it might not work, or it might work for a short time, when go back to a-fib. We're pull'n for ya Wes! Go Blazers
I just want to point out that the Oregonian had an article a few days ago that said this was going to be the first game in which all five starters would actually play together. There were some comments made that the article jinxed the team, and then the next day Wes has this happen. Bad joojoo people!
It's preseason. Makes sense to start Barton. If Wes' heart issue lingers -- and we all hope it doesn't -- and if Barton bombs, then we can think about a Batum / Wright line-up.
I am kind of curious to see Will with the whole starting unit. I know he has started a few preseason games, but not sure if it has been with Lillard, Nic, Robin and LMA. One of the things I like about him is he likes to cut to the basket. With or without the ball. Certainly can't spread the floor like Wes, but he is a better ball handler and a better finisher. Playing with the starters he may not find the need to force things. Could be interesting.
The thing that worries me about Will the Thrill playing with the starters is his decision making and ball hoggeshness. That's just how he rolls -- or at least he did last year. It can work with other subs, against other subs, but that's clearly not his role tonight. I hope he's gained some maturity to understand and execute his roll with the starters. This is how you find out, is by starting him in preseason. I wish I could watch.
Yeah I don't think it would take more than one game for the starters and/or coaches to point out what his role is with that unit. Hogging the ball will not be an issue. My concern is he will do just the opposite and be afraid to do too much. But that also would be pointed out after a game or two.
I wonder if any of this is related to Wes looking a little and not having much lift so far this preseason.
I'm sure if he's not getting as much oxygen as he should to his muscles, it would cause some problems!
Casey Holdahl @CHold Wesley Mathews has been medically cleared to practice, no restrictions, great news
Portland G Wesley Matthews has been cleared to return to practice today after experiencing an irregular heartbeat earlier this week. Sent from my baller ass iPhone 5 FAMS!
I'm glad we got all our injuries out early (knock on wood). Now we can have a healthy team for the entire season (knock on wood again)
I always try to pass on the press release instead of random people's tweets when I can Mr. Sly. Now that you've become a journalist, you're turning into QuickZano!
Your post had no mention of official. Should we assume everything you post is officially from the team?
