CK, Fast and Miller look good tonight, it's good to see Kreider using his size, although not knocking down RMc. Talbot looks solid so far, I'd think he should be a decent NHL backup.
I don't agree with that call, in slo-mo it looks like he may have but in real time there's no way he kicked it, his leg was just moving towards the net.
I'm watching the world series over the game, but Stepan has been disappointing this season. 0 goals and a bunch of secondary assists. He had a good year last season but that does not make him a 1st line, 80pt player like we heard/read on this board. Season's young and he should improve, but he's not someone who's going to carry a team in any way.
Del Zotto is terrible. I truly don't understand how he is still here. Guess Sather will be givng him a nice new deal this summer. Here is the bottom line. Last two games played the "worst" two teams in the NHL and scored ONE goal. Team is terrible right now. At this point it cannot be debated. I said 2-7 road trip to start, and we will be 2-7 to start, no shot we win in Detroit. This is not pretty. If Nash and Cally aren't back within 2 weeks or so we could be in a HUGE hole early. Not good at all. Just a terrible team right now.
I am not concerned about Stepan at all. If you guys remember he started last season very slowly as well, and then took off. And this season is worse since he had no camp. Stepan will be fine and get his 60 + points IMO.
On the bright side Talbot looked pretty good so maybe they found their backup going forward, we'll see how he does in the next few games.
Talbot did look solid. I think he will be a good solid backup this season. And I 100% start him Saturday also. We will not win at Detroit, we cannot score, so rest Hank some more and have him ready for the home opener, and the remainder of the season.
DZ is funny. Last minute he totally whiffs on a puck at the blue line, which halted all our momentum. I am truly lost why he is not traded by now. Maybe his value is nothing right now.
At any rate, it is what it is. Not going to spend time complaining about it. We are terrible right now. We are missing Nash, Hags, Cally, and Hank. All we can do is hope they all get healthy soon, and then we start heading in the right direction. Nothing else we can do.
He has about 38% of his original value. Maybe if you package him with a St.Croix you could get a decent depth player.
They need to trade/release Pyatt, Boyle (unless they move him to his correct roster spot on the 4th line), and for the love of God Del Zotto. I don't even care if they get nothing in return for them, just be rid of the shit. Bring up the young kids and let the team grow and mature together. It's obvious that this team, as currently constructed, sucks so we might as well start thinking about the future. Yes it's only a few games in, but in the preseason and so far nothing has been shown to suggest they'll suddenly get it together and go on a run. I'm more than willing to have a few subpar seasons if it means that we can go on a run for a few years because the young guys have played together and grown together.
nonsense. A 23yo who's already had a solid 41pt season will have value in this league, but i agree his time in NY is up. Teams will pay for that type of potential.
Agree for the most part, except for the "few subpar seasons" part. Even if this year becomes a throw-away season this team can easily be a contender next year and beyond with only a couple improvements, mainly another top scorer and a PP QB.
I agree 31, but what I mean is that if it takes a couple of seasons than I'm ok with that. This team can undergo a season or two, three at the most, of rebuilding. We, as fans, need to look big picture if they do decide to do that and be patient. So long as it's done right, I'm ok with it and hopefully most fans will be wise enough to see the big picture and be ok with it as well.
If teams are taking him off your hands because you deem him expendable, then there must be something wrong if you're letting a 23y/o with a few good seasons go. All I'm saying is you won't get a top 6 player for him, teams won't give that away for potential and tarnished goods.
A season, or two, or three of rebuilding. The NYR fans mantra. Hank will be 34...now let's win baby. I love it. It's next year somewhere...LOL.
If you noticed, I actually said that they'd need to rebuild, not simply wait til next year. There's a huge difference between simply saying, "wait til next year" and "we need to rebuild." But I wouldn't expect someone with your clear lack of reading comprehension, which has been so clearly on display on this board just as it was on the espn board, to understand the difference between the two.
