The Warriors and Bobcats are working on a deal that would send Mike Dunleavy and Mickael Pietrus to Charlotte in exchange for Gerald Wallace and Melvin Ely. The Bobcats would then also ink Bonzi Wells to a deal. One problem holding up the transaction is that the Phoenix Suns are making a late push for Melvin Ely.</div>So the plan is to deal Gerald Wallace (possible future All-Star, very good defender) and Melvin Ely (insurance off the bench) for Mike Dunleavy (bust, inconsistant, hasn't improved much) and Mickael Pietrus (MJ from Brazil my ass!), then sign Bonzi Wells. That is TERRIBLE for Charlotte. It would give them more depth at the SG spot, but if you are going to deal Gerald Wallace, bring back someone better than Mike Dunleavy! If Charlotte does this, this is terrible.I have seen this rumor on 2 different sites, I can't believe it from a Bobcats point of view.
This trade rumor is pure garbage, I'm tired of it. Some moron makes a claim and people eat it up with no source. It's obvious that Charlotte would never do it. If Charlotte did this they would considered a joke around the league. (Maybe Wallace doesn't intend to sign an extension...hmmm.). Mickael Pietrus isn't from Brazil...he's from a small French island in Guadeloupe.

Yeah^^ he is Pietrus is from France. I think this a garbage trade. Wallace is like a top cadidate for DPOY award. Dunleavy was overrated coming out of college. But Pietrus is not that bad he has solid defense and a decent jumper. But again Morrison's playing time.
Why would Charlotte want to give up Gerald Wallace? He's a stud. He can do everything. He is super athlethic, he can rebound, defend, block shots, get steals, etc..I dont understand.

This deal works out well if Charlotte wants to create mistmatch hell. Make Dunleavy the PG off the bench or the PF and watch him either run circles around other PF's, or use his size to shoot and pass over other PG's. Pietrus could do everything that Wallace does if given playing time, and a pick for Charlotte could work. I'm starting to think this deal is BS, but if it happens, its a good deal for both sides.
Dunleavy was a PG in College and ran it with Mussleman in GS. Dunleavy has a rare passing ability at his size that nobody in the league playing the position he does at his size could rival.
Deal can make sense for Bobcats if you break it down. It's been clear all offseason Bobcats and Ely will part ways. Their just looking for the right deal. This is a way they get something in return. Also, another factor could be Gerald Wallace's impending free agency. If Bobcats don't think they can ink him or feel he's not worth their cap. This is a good opportunity to get something of value. Bonzi ain't that bad of a defender and this gives Charlotte some good depth on the wings they don't have now. Also, allows Morrison to progress off the bench. Just wanted to note about how you labeled them CB. Ely is not needed on the Bobcats, their filled out well at bigs with guys they want to give minutes. This is why he's being sign and traded somewhere. Pietrus fills a need and has as much potential(if greater imo) then Ely. Comes down to it for Cats, Dunleavy/Bonzi or Wallace. Depending on the situation, it's not a bad trade for the Cats if Wallace is a goner. For Warriors, it's basically swapping out Dunleavy for Wallace. Ely is just a thrown in who could see some time. It's a nice deal as Wallace would fill the defensive all around player Nellie likes paired with his scorers.

Pietrus is going to do a lot on the Bobbies. Possible MIP.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Ely will most likely be the starting center</div> Really? I would think Diogu and Biedrins are ahead of him on the depth chart if the trade went. Possibly even Foyle, despite people disliking him. But I guess that's an option.
Won't happen. CHA can't be stupid enough to do this. Wallace is a great defensive player and a good asset to a team when he's healthy. Dunleavy is ......
